Still very high on LSU and I would say we will be the leader if we offer. Coaches said he needs to keep his grades up and come in this summer for evaluations. He just got a 18 on the ACT so if the grades stay where they are he is good to go. He will be in for a camp this summer.
I'm very high on him.. in terms of 'my wants' it would probably go 1) Seastrunk 2) Dontae Williams 2a) Storm Johnson I like Williams because he's said to be a 'violent' runner who makes a living off of delivering the blow. I really think that both Williams and Storm are just as good as Michael Ford.
Some film on him from ESPN.. he doesn't have an elite top-gear.. but not shabby at all. Especially with this film being his junior year. Dontae Williams - ESPN Video - ESPN
Thanks for the video. He does run hard, but unfortunately I wasn't exactly blown away. I think he is a good back, but not great. I think Michael Ford is better. While he is trying hard and doesn't go down without a fight, I think he lacks great power that will carry over to the SEC. There were a few times when he couldn't finish his runs falling forward when he was being tackled by a LB or safety. His vision seemed pretty good while picking holes and cutting back and a spin move hinted that his balance is probably good. He didn't have exceptional speed. He runs a little high sometimes, allowing tacklers to get underneath him. Overall, good but not great.
I think Storm > Williams. He had 1300 yds rushing vs. 500 yds. A better yds per carry. A much better offer sheet. Is a bigger guy. IMO is a stronger runner. Has a 490 lb squat and a 4.23 shuttle time, both very nice. And perhaps most importantly, a cooler name! I hope we get Storm.
I gotta say that I'd much prefer Storm over Williams, as well. He's big, quick, has great vision, and excellent balance. Everyone is saying that we've got Storm if we want him, too.
Same ole with Williams. Lacking offers most likely because of grades. He can make it grade wise but I am sure coaching staffs want to see what kind of progress he makes in his senior year. I don't see USC offering after the camp.
