Re: 2010 RB Alfred Blue Wow, slow board tonight...thought there would be alot more comments on this commitment?!?! Welcome aboard Blue :tigereye:
Re: 2010 RB Alfred Blue As this season has shown us...........you can never have too many good backs. Seastrunk would be just icing on the cake. Competition brings out the best in all of us!!
Re: 2010 RB Alfred Blue Ionno maybe it's just me I just think Storm>Blue as a RB maybe I need to see more film on him or something.Im still holding hope out for Lache and actually wouldn't have minded Freddie J in this class to redshirt. Would've been nice to have Lache,Storm,Ware ,FJ and then in 2011 Jeremy Hill,Hillard. Isaiah Crowell, Malcolm Brown and Aaron Green in 2011 should be ones to watch too. Side note I haven't seen St. James this year but How good is Alonzo Lewis I heard he's right underneath JLandry.
Re: 2010 RB Alfred Blue Everyone sees something different when gauging prospects against each other. Then taking into account the roles each will fill on a team. I understand that I do not have the resources to make an evaluation like a staff member making these decisions. I feel very comfortable about our RB prospects so far. Blue, Ware, and Gore all bring something different to the table. Assuming we get Gore, he is our speedster who could fill the slot in some formations and really help on special teams. Ware is the type of athlete that can play anywhere and be successful. He is shifty, follows blockers well, pretty good passer, etc... Blue could mold into a power back with more Lbs. Some have compared him to Upchurch. Doesn't shy away from contact, has the speed to break it outside, and fights for the extra yardage. Lache can do a little bit of it all but not necessarily better than each at their respective abilities IMO. I think he is a great prospect but I am not sold that he is a sure thing to be exceptional at the college level. The potential is there, no doubt though. Storm is a good back and he may be better than Blue in the end. Outside factors were also at play with how his recruitment played out. Not saying it was all Storm's fault by any means. Just works out that way sometimes. The staff was not sold that early in the process. I assume they basically stopped most pursuit given the lack of information coming out. That tells me they are content with their decision to not accept the commit at that time. Still need more resources to have an opinion of Jackson. Not much out there but the staff seems impressed. I don't see him in this class with offer in hand. Given his current offer list, maybe LSU can get him in as a walk-on. Not really common for RBs but walk-ons are usually in-state guys and being from Baton Rouge only helps if the staff and Jackson considered this possibility.
You're right on everything you said Bhelm but I wouldn't say Gore is fast. Hes more quicker than he is fast, IMO. Good cut speed and acceleration but he doesn't have great top end speed. Acceleration/cut is more important for a back anyway. Long as hes not chugging along with 4.8 speed... Blue has all the physical tools and can definitely add a lot of weight on his frame. Hes apparently pretty fast too. LSU is not in a position to be choosy right now anyway. I think we take Gore and are done with RB recruiting. We have no shot at LS if we take 3 RBs this year, IMO.
Speaking of 4.8 speed, Do forty times change much for the better with LSU's strength and conditioning programs? Has any LSU player ever dramatically improved his 40 time after his first year on the team? Maybe Gore can get a lot faster here. No?
Well, after the punter I would say the Tigers are down to very few spots. Seastruck or Gore Then what else a spot or two left. JR Ferguson would be icing on the cake.
