This team needs a sparkplug at RB.

We could have used him THIS year.

What's sad is, as good as Richardson has looked with Bama, he would have been redshirted also had he signed with LSU.

We need a spark plug on the Oline. No way anyone was coming out and getting into the reps with Scott and Williams. Ridley hasn't even done that yet.

that has more to do with Miles' unrelenting attachment to his seniors

(see Justin Vincent and Ally Broussard)

I know you are semi down and out but that is a stretch to say the least.

No freshman is going to come in and suddenly make the Oline get a push off the line of scrimmage. Not a RB problem because they are hitting the holes when they are there but that has not been often this year.

No, I agree with you the O-line hasn't performed up to capability.

At the same time, Scott looks like a much worse version of himself from last year. That certainly doesn't help.

Just look when Shep is in the game, it's 7-8 yards a pop. So even with questionable line blocking, a superior athletic player like Shep can be successful.

I think Ford could have provided a spark in that way.

    Everything is relative, obviously.

Great running backs can make offensive lines look better than they actually are. It works both ways.

Scott is an up to gut runner and is not used on delays or options to a great extent like Shep as been used. Shep bounces around and waits for the whole to open or cut it outside. Scott has a designed call for a certain hole and he tries to get through a hole in the middle but with the interior line not opening any holes he is going to suffer. 2 completely different styles and play calls.

Ford is similar to Scott. He is going to run up the gut and put his head down through the 1st level and then work to the outside. Not going to bounce around like Shep or even Williams on certain occasions.

But from what I've seen Ford is definitely quicker and faster than Scott. More like a KW.

While I fully agree with you that we need a sparkplug in general on O, we are set at RB. I also agree that Miles should be using Shepard more. Put Shepard with UF or USC and he would be the talk of the town.

Getting back to the topic at hand. Im very content with what Ive seen with Scott and Williams. Scott is every bit the workhorse he was last year. He just isnt getting any holes to work with. When he has been giving holes he is driving back piles like a madman. Scott is still a beast.

Shepard isnt getting the yards he initially was now that everyone and their grand ma knows whats coming. Similar to with Scott up the middle. Shepard is able to still get some yards because of his exceptional abilities to improvise. His ability to cut and make a play out of nothing. Not many kids could do that. Which is why I say Shepard needs more touches form WR and RB. For an every down back Scott is a stud. Not many of the all time great backs would be having much of a season with the LSU OL that Scott has ran behind. Add to that we dont go down the field and JJ has been very erratic as well. Barry Sanders might be one of the only backs who could do anything with these circumstances.

I am not sure who is faster but it is close. Ford is not a speed demon by any means based on the HS game I saw last year. I can buy quicker especially after getting past the 1st level. His cut to the outside is a tad bit quicker than Scott's IMO. A majority of Ford's yards in HS came right up the gut with very little moves. He mainly just drags the pile with him.

Heard Blue had an impressive game tonight against Destrahan. Radio station out of Baton Rouge, can't remember the guy's name or the station, shared some info with 98.1 out of Shreveport. He said in his opinion, Blue was the best RB in the state, without a doubt.
Is this true? Is he high on LSU's board? Hate to see the best RB in state go to ole miss.
