I say either way the plan doesn't change. We take an in-state guy and keep hitting up the OOS prospects we have offered. Brissett seems like a guy we will have a good shot at and with Bridgewater likely taking his spot at UM that opens the door even more. Seems like Marquise Williams was cooling on us because of our less than frequent contact with him compared to the attention he got from LSU last year. I know LSU has been trying to change that and Williams seems very open about getting things back in motion. If we can convince him to come to camp in July, I think we get back to the top of his list or close to it. Hundley is a guy who is going to be difficult to get out of Pac10 country but we need to stay on him. I think the staff has cooled on Justin Worley as of now but we could increase interest down the road and have a decent shot. I have a feeling he is going to hold out to see how the chips fall. Uzomah would be a surprise. Others to watch with offers: QB J.W. Walsh -- Denton, TX 3* QB Jerrard Randall -- Hollywood, FL
Bhelm and Deuce where are yall hearing that Lee isn't coming? That's very discouraging b/c everyone has been saying how its going to take more money than most teams would offer for him not to go to LSU and that he's always wanted to go to college. He is an absolute stud and is the kind of leader that LSU needs at the QB position right now.
I still think he makes it to LSU but you can never tell. I think he would have to get picked in the 1st or 2nd round to come close to the $3M signing bonus he is looking for and usually prospects talking up college are not drafted that high because of the risk of not signing and wasting a top pick.
I don't see a MLB team using that kind of pick on a guy who has publicly committed to play college football. It's just to much money to throw at a guy if you are not 110% sure he's committed to playing MLB baseball for your franchise. There are guys out there just as talented who will commit.
Someone linked a article(I think it was to ESPN) saying a ESPN insider said his family played it perfect. They used LSU to get what they want and he'll likely be a first-second round pick. If he gets picked that high, you better believe they think they'll sign the prospect. As I said before, where a player is drafted usually tells you if hes coming here or not. However, its not 100%. I've seen high picks not sign before out of HS, even if a organization is confident in signing them. I'm not saying that article was true but it wouldn't surprise me. A lot of HS MLB prospects do this. His asking price of $3 million is a lot though...but all it takes is one ball club to fall in love with him. I personally feel Lee is a important prospect for Baseball. Not so sure he'll stay devoted to Football. Especially since he'll probably be gone in 3 years. He has polish to contribute immediately at LSU. Probably the most polished pitcher in our class...his Fastball was hitting 95mph recently and has potential for a nasty Changeup.
Perhaps. But he ain't ready for MLB right now. Playing high-visibility, top-facility football and baseball for 3 years in college may have some appeal over spending three years riding in buses from one AA park to another in the minors. He can get the experience and maturity he needs in baseball and keep open his opportunities in football. Major league baseball and the NFL will always be there.
Drafted 28th overall by Los Angeles. Keith Law said the rumor of late is that it will take 6 M to have him signed, but we'll see if he gets enticed by whatever the Dodgers throw at him. I'm more bummed out for the baseball team than I am for losing a QB recruit.
