Re: Terrance Broadway I wasn't very impressed when they played Patterson in the playoffs, but I understand he was nursing some injuries by then. Strong arm, but he wasn't very accurate that night. Even injured, he moved around pretty well. My impression in that game was of a good athlete, maybe even SEC calibre, but definitely not an SEC quarterback.
Re: Terrance Broadway Assuming Lee doesn't transfer & Shepard doesn't change positions, we will have 5 scholarship QBs with only 1 of them being older than a sophomore (and 3 with starting experience). There just aren't enough snaps to go around for 6 QBs, and we will have bigger needs. I'm not saying we won't recruit some QBs, but I don't see us pushing hard for them and what QB would want to walk into this depth chart? Hatch - Jr Lee - So Jefferson - So Shepard - Fr Garrett - RS
Re: Terrance Broadway I agree, to many to compete with if they all stay. BUT, what if the following year a couple of them give up & transfer, then you are thin again at quarterback with no one to fill the gap between say upperclassmen & true Freshmen? I guess its a neverending process... Just don't want to get caught again like we did in 08.
Re: Terrance Broadway The writing will be on the wall this year. Lee transferring and/or Shepard changing positions is not unreasonable, but I think we'll have a pretty good idea of that by the 3rd game of the season, which will allow us to know whether we need to recruit a QB in the '10 class or not.
Re: Terrance Broadway LSU will get at least one QB in every class, unless we just strike out on everyone. Not likely at all. I think Lee will transfer in the Spring after he discovers 2nd string is gonna be hard to pull off. And I see Hatch just leaving the team. We could easily be down to 3 serviceable qbs come the fall.
Re: Terrance Broadway We have a lot of depth, but its all young and inexperienced players. JJ looked good, but how will he do when gameplaned against? Will he be consistent? Lee was shot by seasons end, will have the mentality to come back strong if need be? Or does he transfer? Then there is the prized recruit Shepard. He can come in and make plays with his feet, but his passing will need a lot of work before he could start. If not LSU will look similar to OSU this year. Garrett will most likely not be ready either. Hatch lacks the arm to be a starter. I think LSU definitely has to go after a QB this coming recruiting season. With unproven depth I think QB is a must, at least one. Add to that its not an easy position to pick up and translate to the next level.
Re: Terrance Broadway We've given offers to Montana's kid and to Jake Heaps... have we given an offer to Broadway?
Re: Terrance Broadway I don't see a big name wanting to come here and sit on the bench behind our logjam of talent for the next three or four years. I've said it here before that unless you pick up two QBs in one year we need to get one every year. You just never know what might happen. We did get two this year so QB won't be a need unless someone like the Burch kids just wants to play for LSU.
Re: Terrance Broadway From a friend of mine who lives in BR, he says Broadway is a silent to Bama already. I dont believe that , but thats what I have heard from more than one person.
Re: Terrance Broadway I've heard rumors both Lee and Hatch are transferring. I really think Lee is gone from what I heard. I know someone who has a class with him and swears he was taunted often. He said it was so bad Lee often skipped class and went through the back way. I believe him because if you talk to the average so called "LSU" fan on campus, they have terrible things to say about him. Shows you how dumb/immature our student section is. "How can a Freshman be that bad" Doh, you answered your own question...in the SEC. He walked into a completely unfair situation to begin with. How does this affect Broadway? Well, if both transfer then that only leaves 3 scholarship QBs on the roster. LSU has to be releasing some people off the team in order to sign a full class...
