I saw a piece on him on ESPN a few weeks ago and he looks like a solid QB and having Joe as your dad can't hurt... Nick is excited about the offer and will take an unofficial to LSU in the near future.
Re: Miles Offers 2010 QB Montana I hope you are right, but so far Rivals is not showing him as receiving an offer from LSU.
Re: Miles Offers 2010 QB Montana Rivals(Mike) is late to the game often. Scout reported on Montana. I find it best to get your recruiting news from multiple sources.
Re: Miles Offers 2010 QB Montana Nick Montana is QB for Oaks Christian in Southern California, the same school Jimmy Clausen led as QB a few years ago. Montana's teammates include the sons of hockey superstar Wayne Gretzky and actor Will Smith (both on the JV team). Montana's 2008 performance: 12-0 season, they have blown out everybody they played, including the team led by 5-star RB Cierre Wood. Passing: 109 for 201 (54.2%), 2,077 yards, 30 TDs, 6 INTs Rushing: 28 carries, 75 yards, 2.63 YPC, 6.3 YPG, 2 TD http://www.maxpreps.com/california/...6-4509-aba9-adad5cc85b5e&urpath=,local,player Like his older brother Nate Montana, Nick gets QB training from Steve Clarkson (whose former students included Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Leinart, Gino Torretta, Jimmy Clausen, Dayne Crist, Matt Barkley, etc). Clarkson says of Nick Montana: “He’s identical to his dad,” Clarkson said. “If you saw him play, you’d swear it’s Joe.” http://articles.latimes.com/2008/jul/11/local/me-oaks11 Of course, Clarkson also said this of Southern Cal commit Matt Barkley: "He is on track to be the greatest quarterback I've ever worked with." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/arash_markazi/02/04/barkley.usc/1.html Nick Montana pics:
Re: Miles Offers 2010 QB Montana I'd expect ND to be the clear favorite for Nick Montana. His dad, Joe Montana played QB for ND, and is a very active supporter of ND. Joe Montana's daughter graduated ND in the spring, and his son Nate Montana is a freshman walk-on QB for the ND football team. Regardless, this Oct 17, 2008 article by Scout makes it sound like Nick Montana is wide-open regarding what school he goes to: “UCLA, Oregon, Arizona, a lot of Pac-10 schools, have been talking with me,” Montana said. “A bunch of people are thinking I’m stuck on Notre Dame, too, because my dad went there and my brother is going there right now, and I’m pretty interested in them. But there are a lot of SEC schools I’m interested in, like Alabama and Tennessee and Big 12 schools like Oklahoma and Texas.” ... “I just want to get out and see some schools I haven’t gotten to see. I’m definitely interested in the California schools like Stanford, USC and UCLA. But I’m thinking it will take me a while. I want to see a bunch of different schools. I’m definitely not going to rush my decision.” ... “I actually just got back from Oregon this past weekend. I went up there to watch them play UCLA. I liked it a lot. Their facilities are awesome and the whole town was fired up for the game. One of my best friend’s brother is T.J. Ward, their safety. So it was a cool experience. I met Coach (Mike) Bellotti this weekend and some of the coaches are going to be coming out to one of our games.” This weekend, Montana will be at the Rose Bowl when two teams he’s interested in, UCLA and Stanford, play. “I’m going to see UCLA this weekend when they play Stanford and I’ll probably go up to Stanford later and see the school more,” said Montana. “Coach (Rick) Neuheisel and Coach (Jim) Harbaugh are both personally recruiting me.” http://recruiting.scout.com/2/801966.html
Re: Miles Offers 2010 QB Montana I don't think we should get too excited about this. After all, how many west coast kids do we get? Notre Dame is clearly the favorite, but with their program in disarray other schools have a chance. I don't think Pete Carrol lands this California kid though. It is one thing not to attend your old man's alma mater, but to enroll at a rival program is another. Think back to the Manning boys. Archie would have had a heart attack had one of his boys played at LSU even though we should have had a decent shot with them residing in New Orleans.
Re: Miles Offers 2010 QB Montana I agree it is noting o get exited about. I doubt he will be coming to LSU as well but Miles offered him most likely to gauge his interest level in LSU just for the hell of it.
