It appears from his video he is a three step punter. Has he corrected that? Takes too long and uses up too much ground. No way are the Gators punt return team not going to be all over that. Three steps = Blocked punt in the SEC..too much speed on the rush
His 3 step drop time is under the required/recommended 1.3 seconds. Even with this, he is working on a 2 step drop. So in essence, it does not matter how many steps you take as long as you get it under that magical 1.3 seconds. Hopefully that answers your concerns.
The only other adjustment would be for the long snapper who would have to snap the ball a little deeper to allow him to take the extra step. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but sometimes one little adjustment can throw them off if it gets in their head. The best examples are in baseball when an ace pitcher can't find the plate and suddenly his career is over. Years ago Steve Sax, who played second base couldn't make the throw to first base because he started to think about it and aim the ball after a series of throwing errors. But I think I'll deep snapper will be just fine. I hope he isn't reading this. I think he will keep his job unless he gives bad investment advice to Les about film industry tax credits.:yelwink2:
the long snapper snapping back another yard would amount to about a .05 adjustment to his time (1.25 becomes 1.30, or thereabouts, for example). Not a biggie
He was at the National Invitational Camp in Wisconsin this week and finished 4th overall out of 138 in attendance. Ahead of Sadler who finished 6th and Darr at #22. Both hold LSU offers. Only a matter of time before he finally gets that offer. One of the most talented punters coming out of the great state of Louisiana for quite some time.
Ginsburgh has converted to the 2 step drop within only the past month or so and performed more than admirably at that Wisconsin camp. He is only going to get better with more reps. That being said, to finish 4th among the nations elite is quite a performance. That's like Phil Mickelson winning a golf tournament after changing his swing. Hagerup finished 2nd, but his combination of 46 yards per punt and 4.14 hang time could mean he out kicks his coverage team. Not a good thing. Ginsburgh had a 43.30 average and 4.26 hang time, a much more effective combination.
Based on the results of all 3 rounds, Jonathan seemed the most consistent in the top 10 as well and really finished out strong in the last round. He was 2nd in the final round.
