Last time we converted some DT to an OT it worked out pretty good. I think he goes by the name of Joseph Barksdale. :tigerhead

Robinson is monsterous. 6'8 330 and can move. Would make a solid left tackle, but I like the depth we have right now.

We lose Ciron, but Faulk Shaw 2010 commits Washington and Hardrick looks pretty nice.

Me too! I would hope we would make room for 5* OL.

:geaux: Totally agree with you, especially after the trouble we've had running the ball this year. I'd take a 5* OL if he wanted to commit unless there are other issues involved. :LSU231:

All things being equal you would think Les would favor a Offensive Lineman because he was one, and coached them. So if we can fit him I think we will.

FYI, he is not a 5* OL.

He is the 23rd ranked OT by Rivals and #8 by Scout and a mid to low 4* on both sites. His rating has been dropping steadily to go along with the attention he is receiving from top programs. LSU has not made him a priority from what I am hearing.

He may be a take if we have room but we are saving spots for Lache, Reed, Blue, and Fobbs/Wright. Who would you get rid of? We took 4 OL this year so far and a couple who could potentially move to OL like Allen or Marsh but not likely. We took 4 last year and lost 1 to attrition.

Plus you have a bigger prospect at another position of need in Ego Ferguson.

Not saying it isn't possible that the staff decides he is higher on our board than the others or some guys decommit but the deck is a somewhat stacked against him at this time.

:geaux: Thanks Bhelm. As for the question of who to "get rid of" out of Lache, Reed, Blue and Fobbs/Wright, I'd say Blue IF we get Lache. Blue would be the odd man out, IMO, with Ware and Worle already on board for this year and if Lache signs. Also have to look at Jeremy Hill already on board for 2011 and the prospects for K. Hilliard looking up.

Didn't know Robinson was not a 5*, just going on what was posted, but I'd still look at taking him because a 4* OT is nothing to sneeze at and we've had too much attrition on the OL over the last couple of years. Don't want to us get too thin with depth on the OL. This kid sounds like a beast and I hope it works out that we can take him, but I'll defer to the staff on it.:hihi: Just sayin.... :LSU231:

Second hand I heard he is a grade risk. Do you know if that is accurate. With the 28 limit schools cannot afford to many of these.

:geaux: Agree. If that turns out to be accurate it would obviously raise a red flag and cause the staff to be very careful regarding offering or not. Would definitely qualify as "an issue" to be considered. Hopefully someone will be able to shine some light on whether grades are a concern or not. :LSU231:

Only problem with getting rid of a Blue is that the staff seems pretty set on taking 2 more RBs.

Miles decreasing attention on Robinson tells me a lot since he is an OL coach as well. Seems to mirror what the Scouts are saying about Robinson in his senior season.

I wouldn't mind having him either but I just can't see it with all the guys we have committed at this time and the lack of numbers at this time.

:geaux: Wow, taking 4 RB's in this class is a lot. Didn't figure that that the staff would take that many. Think that has anything to do with the stories floating around that Ford has been a little slow progressing/getting up to speed? What have you heard on Ford as of late?

Guess if the staff is cooling on Robinson that does indicated there may be other issues and/or the numbers game. Guess we'll just see how it shakes out between now and NSD. :LSU231:
