It's pretty obvious BHelm is more on the ball than they are if Scout had him on defense. It was well known that we wanted him for OL. The only question was if he would go for that...and apparently he did.:thumb:

Re: OG/DT Elliot Porter Commits We obviously liked him better than Chad Lindsay, even though Chad had a more impressive offer sheet. Perhaps other schools were not considering Porter as an OLineman. The staff must see something they really like in this guy. He will fill out to be a good size, but isn't a 6-6 or 6-7 monster. I haven't seen any film on him. Anyone see any film or see him play? I did notice that he seems to have matured a good bit physically from earlier pictures posted on Scout and Rivals. I have the feeling he will make great strides this year because of it. I wish he would gain some playing time on the OL in his senior year.

I'm sure we wouldn't turn down an exceptional OL, but the fact that we are recruiting a TE to play Center and a DL to play OL kind of indicates we don't expect consensus 4* guys to be knocking down our door.
Re: OG/DT Elliot Porter Commits He's taller, more athletic, and has a better shaped body than Lindsay. They worked him out at the June camp on the OL, and offered him immediately. On film as a DT, he is a very physical player who hustles and plays with good technique. It's easy to see why they like him as an OG when you watch the vids on him.
Re: OG/DT Elliot Porter Commits What does that matter? Barksdale was a DL in high school. Peterman was a TE in high school. Josh Dworacyzk was a DL until his Senior year. The #2 pick in the NFL draft, Jason Smith, was a 225lb TE when he got to Baylor. The fact that they evaluated Porter as an OG and offered him there is a positive in my mind. He's more athletic than many of these "consensus 4* guys" that you are talking about. What he played in highschool really doesn't mean anything. Guys end up on the OL then oftentimes bc they aren't athletic enough to play on the DL.
