I'm wondering if this kid will stick to his commit or if he'll still listen to LSU and get a invite to our camp. If that happens, I think it can get interesting.
:geaux: Just seems odd that he is good enough for Saban and 'Bama to offer but not LSU? It's obviously not his ability/talent/potential or Saban wouldn't have offered him and feels he can be an SEC caliber OG. Is there something else here? Just hate to see LSU lose out on a highly talented kid who wants to be at LSU. To let this kid go the staff must really feel pretty good about who else they have on the board. I certainly hope so. :LSU231:
LSU picked up Williford as a project. One of those.. we think he's a 'diamond in the rough' types. I misread the quote.. but ah well. I think Alabama wants Lindsay at center anyways.
It would be easier to switch his pledge if he didn't make a big deal about it. You know, invite media attention, put on a Bama hat, etc..
Looking back on our OL recruits for the last 2 or 3 years shows that most have been taller, leaner and many have bigger frames. I said at the beginning of this thread that he was a prototypical OG at 6'3" and perhaps that made us hesitate. He isn't exactly versatile unless he is quick enough to play center. Our recent trend in recruiting kids that would have been considered OT's historically allows us the versatility of putting them at OG, like big Herm, or OT. We haven't recruited anyone listed under 6'4" very often lately. Hebert, who was a true Center is one of the few. I know Hitt is short, but he was recruited 4 years ago and I believe he was originally slated as a DL. When our OL was in dire straights he got his opportunity and proved his worth. Every year when Rivals ranks the OL there are more highly ranked OT's than OG's, just as there are even fewer highly ranked centers. IMO the reason is OT's are typically bigger OL and are often able to play both OT and OG, making them a more valuable commodity. Oh, and just to add a little spice, Lindsay isn't ranked on Rivals. Now he can skyrocket--because he's Bama bound.
Yea, I just called my Bama friend and told him (before the announcement) this kid will probably commit to Bama today because he doesn't have a comittable offer from LSU (per bhelm) for the reasons listed above. I also told him that as of now Lindsay's unranked but wanted to commit early to the gumps so he could be a five star on Rivals when the new rankings come out. Yall seen my buddy before didn't ya.
This is another posistion I could give a flying crap about. CLM knows what he's doing when it come to O-linemen and he knows how to find them and coach them up. If Lindsay didn't have an offer that says all I need to know.............next!
