I get the Bama part but his personality? anything in particular I could see the concern for say Navorro Bowman... Saints will probably look at Jared Odrick as well to put next to Sed don't know if he would be there at 29 or 32..

His boasting and also guy just won the NC going into the combine and senior bowls at 375, thats a personality problem to me. He doesnt take it serious. Thats almost 20lbs in a month and half.

I cant go that far with you, I dont like Cody for the simple fact he played for Bama, also dont really like his personality. Only player I would love to have on Bamas team is Ingram, he is a beast of beasts.

I'm with you on the Bama thing, but Rolando McClain is pretty impressive at times. Fast, too for that big of a guy.

Defensive end Jerry Hughes and linebacker Daryl Washington continue to turn heads as they work their way towards April’s NFL draft.

TCU’s standout senior defensemen—who were both named first-team All Mountain West in December—were the featured attractions at the Horned Frogs’ pro day in Fort Worth, Tex. on Friday.
24 NFL teams sent representatives to the workout.

Hughes (6-2 ¼, 254)—who was named the Mountain West Conference’s defensive player of the year for the second consecutive season—has the versatility to play either defensive end in a 4-3 scheme or outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense at the next level. He only took part in position drills on Friday, but looked “smooth and athletic,” according to Gil Brandt of NFL.com.

Hughes ran a 4.69 40-yard-dash at the combine last month, which was the fourth-best time among the defensive linemen.

Washington (6-2, 229) is a natural outside linebacker with great speed who, according to our own Wes Bunting, showcases the range to easily track the ball sideline to sideline. He ran 4.54 in the 40-yard-dash (twice) and 7.06 in the three-cone drill, in addition to participating in position drills.

Washington’s 4.54 40 time was an improvement on the 4.66 he ran at the combine in Indianapolis in February.

Still think he has great potential and also wouldn't be a bad late round pick for the Saints just wondering if him being in another state would be the best situation for him but if Drew Brees could mentor him he could become a great QB.
Also participating was Torrey Davis.I always wondered what happen to Torrey Davis didnt know he ended up at JAX ST too he was a monster coming out of hs and looked like he was going to be great at Florida.

Just as he did Friday at Paul Snow Stadium, throw*ing razor-sharp 30-yard out pass patterns to his former college teammates.

There's no question about Perrilloux's physical skills, which were the reason about 20 NFL scouts showed up for Jacksonville State's pro day Friday morn*ing. Ditto, for former Game*cocks defensive tackle Tor*rey Davis.

What NFL scouts want to see is what they can't see: If good behavior has followed second chances for LSU ref*ugee Perrilloux and Florida Gators exile Davis.

"They had the chance to do it over in a new environ*ment," Jacksonville State coach Jack Crowe said while watching the two go through the paces including sprints, drills and leaps and bounds.
"They had to prove them*selves. And their talent was such we took on the respon*sibility."
They picked Jacksonville State for two reasons: The chance to play immediately at a solid Division I-AA pro*gram and the chance to find somewhere they could avoid trouble.

"When I left Florida, I wanted to get away from such a party town," Davis said. "This was the first school I visited, and it was secluded with not much to do. I like it here."

The seclusion worked for Perrilloux, too, Crowe said.

"You can't roll through a stop sign here (without get*ting a ticket). You can't hide, and Ryan's been here two years," Crowe said.

They turned in good, but not Joe Webb-like, numbers in a workout that was hur*ried due to rain and more rain on the way. But, again, scouts already have years of film on the two. What mat*ters is how background checks go as NFL teams per*form due diligence before the draft next month.

"All the questions I get about Ryan are about LSU," Crowe said. "I can't answer those. But there are no questions about what he did here.

"Torrey did not accept academic responsibility, which is why he came out early (after his junior sea*son). He just wants to play football."

Perrilloux was suspended twice at LSU, the last time for failing a drug test, ac*cording to an ESPN.com re*port. At Jacksonville State, he avoided trouble off the field and starred on it, pass*ing for 2,350 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior and rushing for 443 yards and eight touchdowns.

"I've done some things in the past I'm not proud of," Perrilloux said after his workout. "I just want to show I've turned the corner and can help a franchise out.

"I'm using football as an avenue to help my family, especially my little girl."

Perrilloux's daughter, Ri*ley, is 2 years old.

Davis made his biggest splash as a sophomore, making two goal-line tackles against Oklahoma to clinch the 2008 BCS national championship. He left Flor*ida after academic and un*specified off-field problems.

The two Gamecocks have been training in Hatties*burg, Miss., under the guidance of a trainer and sports agent Bus Cook, who also represents Brett Favre.
Perrilloux remains haunted by his past, how*ever.

"If people would let go of what happened at LSU ... " Cook said. "But, talent-wise, he's as good as any in the draft. It's just a matter of where teams want to take him."

Crowe believes there won't be any questions after teams look into his back*ground and study his game films. After all, the most im*portant commodity is tal*ent.

"Ryan Perrilloux is a Bo Jackson," Crowe said. "I coached them both, and they are different from all the rest."

Atlanta sports agent Pat Dye Jr. was minding his own business in his office when he took the first of a series of calls from a former Auburn football coach.

"My dad called me three or four times and told me, 'You are crazy if you don't sign this kid. He's going to play on Sundays, I'm telling you.' " The caller was Pat Dye, of course.

The kid was UAB quarterback Joe Webb, who, Dye Jr. admitted, "wasn't on my A-list" of potential clients."

Webb is now.

And after working out at UAB's Pro Day as a receiver, he may be climbing the NFL Draft list, as well.

Playing receiver, one of four positions he could end up playing as a pro, Webb turned in eye-popping numbers:

> He reached 38 1⁄2 inches on his vertical jump.

Then, with teammates rooting him on, he climbed to 421⁄ 2 . The latter number led all receivers at the NFL Combine and would have ranked second overall there.

> He leaped 11 feet, 5-and-a-half inches in the long jump, a number that surpassed all other receivers at the Combine by almost half a foot.

> His 20-yard shuttle of 3.91 seconds would have bested the top time overall time at the combine of 4.03.

> He turned in a ready-for- prime-time 4.43 in the 40-yard dash.

Atlanta Falcons star Roddy White, an ex-Blazer, watched the first two drills and started shaking his head while displaying a can-you-believe-that? grin.

"I wouldn't say they are world record numbers, but they were close," UAB coach Neil Callaway said after watching Webb's vertical leap. "It's like a guy who catches a 15-pound bass."

Webb wasn't invited to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, so he came to Legion Field on a mission.

"I had something to prove."
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Webb will create a quandary for NFL teams when the draft rolls around. He has a quarterback pedigree, receiver speed and the size of a small tight end. He could wind up at receiver, tight end, H-back or wildcat quarterback.His hands were measured as the second largest at the game behind Alabama's Terrence Cody.

Who is Joe Webb? … Like so many Conference USA players, Webb is a hard-working, team-oriented player, who’d like to make SEC schools sorry for not pursuing him harder. First and foremost, he’s an outstanding athlete and the best thing the Blazers have had at the position since Darrell Hackney left school. A part-time wide receiver as a sophomore, he took flight after getting back behind center in 2008, accounting for 21 touchdowns and joining just three other quarterbacks to rush for more than 1,000 yards. Although he’ll make mistakes and is far from a finished product, he can also scare the wits out of opposing defensive coordinators when he tucks the ball and runs. A sturdy 6-4, 220-pounder with a good feel for his surroundings, he’s capable of punishing defensive backs or dancing around them. The kid from Birmingham has yet to fulfill his dream of playing in a bowl game. If it’s going to happen later this year, he’ll be the driving force on the field and in the locker room.

Joe Webb’s best game so far was … at Tulane last Nov. 15. By the final quarter of last season, Webb was beginning to round into a much more complete quarterback. Yeah, he was still doing most of his damage on the ground, but he was also making better decisions as a passer. In a blowout of the Green Wave, he went 15-of-21 for 154 yards, while running 18 times for 130 yards and a career-high three touchdowns.

Why you should care about Webb? … If Webb’s passing ever catches up with his running, he’ll be one of the most exciting quarterbacks among the non-BCS schools. He’ll do a little bit of everything for the UAB offense, but is especially dangerous on the move and improvising outside the pocket. With one final year of eligibility remaining, he’s become the face of the Blazers’ drive toward Conference USA respectability......

I like Perrilloux's chances as a Pro now. He's not going to have anything given to him, he's not going to have huge expectations. He's going to have to humble himself and earn everything. Such a situation has a way of benefitting certain types of players who don't handle the the stigmata that something is "owed" to them.

Too bad Jamarcus Russell didn't have the same motivating situation...

Now that the first wave of free agency is over, we’re starting to see what I think might become an emerging trend.

Mike Triplett reports that New Orleans defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove will visit the Detroit Lions on Monday night and Tuesday. As a restricted free agent, Hargrove would have to give the Saints the opportunity to match any offer he receives from the Lions. If the Saints decline to match the offer, they would receive a third-round pick as compensation.

This one’s worth watching because Hargrove was a very underrated performer in New Orleans’ championship season. The Saints took a shot on Hargrove, who had some problems early in his career, and he responded by giving them valuable depth at defensive end and tackle. He could even be a candidate for a starting position next season.

Like I said, this might be a sign of things to come because the Saints have a bunch of quality restricted free agents. Running back Mike Bell already has drawn some interest and players like receiver Lance Moore, who weren’t hit with high tenders, also could attract some attention.

Getting the Lions 3rd rd pick would be a great return for Hargrove even though I would hate to lose him. Looks like Bell might be gone to Phila..I wouldn't mind giving Lance to the Jets for their 1st
