"Safe picks" like Riley & Beckwith who played well enough to make the Fianl 12 on the Butkis Award list? LSU recruited & signed the #1 MLB in Georgia & #1 OLB in LA. Also the #2 & # 3 OLBs in LA. Finshed #6 & #10 nationally at LB'er according to the recruiting services.
No getting around the fact that LSU hasn't had a big time LB since Michael Brooks. Brady and Faulk were nice , but the Tigers have been seriously short on talent and depth at LB for many many years. Not sure the reason why, but the facts are the facts. I'd like to see what the LSU defense could do with 3 legit SEC LB's.
That was fast. UF offered yesterday but I doubt it is commitable at this time but I could be wrong. Officially a LSU/UF battle.
Yeah, I am not surprised. If he is smart, he comes here - not only to be a Tiger, but FLAs depth at LB is superior to ours. He has a better shot at more PT here, plus our coaching staff is much improved on defense.
After his spring game he will make a trip to LSU with his coach, Aunt, and brother. Plans to enroll early.
More tidbits: LSU staff is visiting him today at practice. He has a former teammate playing DE for the Gators, Earl Okine. http://blog.nola.com/tigerrag/2009/05/nelson_is_one_tough_kid.html
I guess UF had no room for him, he committed to Miami and I expect his teammate Devonta' Davis to do the same. Both of them were at the June Camp.
