sounds more like a "Kevin Anderson" offer then. offer a guy on the other side of the country to guage interest and get him out for a visit then really "offer" if others fall through.
Could be. This year is different than last. Last year there were a ton of early commits and last minute switches.....the power was on the player side. This year certain positions seem to be a bit stacked and so timing is key. Coaches hold more of the power unless of course you are absolutely top 10. I'll use Tony Jefferson as an example. He originally said he was going to Stanford. Then he backed off when he got interest from USC, UCLA, Oklahoma, amongst others. He did okay at RSC but wasn't thrilled with the rotation. Last week he listed USC in his top 5. This week USC got a commit from Dion Bailey and Jefferson dropped USC and today committed to UCLA. I don't even think he's done at this point.
Just a couple of questions. Were there any big time defensive Linemen at this Camp? The Reason Mr. Blackmon got a scholarship offer is that he just came on a whim & out performed everyone that was here? I read where the LSU camp flyer was ether at his school or home & he & his dad decided to come. That means they were invited? You have to be invited to come don't you? If he was invited that means LSU was aware of him? No offers from anyone but Troy just don't seem right. I truly hope he becomes a great Tiger, what a story that will be.. Wouldn't Sabin be pissed!!!!
Not sure if that is true, because Ash has had an offer but was not looking to commit yet. But to the question of the other DL at the camp: DE Jordan Allen -- West Monroe (He did participate) DT Richard Ash -- FL DT Risean Broussard -- Lake Charles (Not sure if he made it) DT Harold Legania -- Edna Karr DE Walker Ashburn -- John Curtis DT Vince Taylor -- MS DT Carlos Gray -- AL DL Dillen Day -- West Monroe DE/DT Peter Peppers -- FL (Up and Comer from what I hear) DT LaCraig Brown -- Richwood DT Brandon King -- AL DE Cedric Reed -- TX (2011) DT Anthony Johnson -- O.P. Walker (2011) But even more impressive is the OL Dexter was going up against, not too shabby especially since I heard he did more than hold his own against Robinson: OG Elliot Porter -- Shaw (Probably did not participate) OL Damien Robinson -- MS (Beast) OL Adam Shead -- TX (Beast) OL Alex Hill -- Slidell (One of the best in the state this year) OL Luke Charpentier -- John Curtis (would have been a backup plan for LSU) OL Ryan Zeller -- St. Michael OT Ashton Duhe -- Destrehan OG Preston Hatcher -- AL OT La'el Collins -- Redemptorist (2011) OL Corey White -- Capitol (2011) OL Sedrick Flowers -- TX (2011) These are the only ones we heard about but there were a lot more at OL and DL at the camp.
Judging by the last coupla commits LSU had it seems the new rule limiting the press from disseminating information coming out from the camps is really tailor made for the coaches and their staffs. They can now keep their interest in prospects under wraps and the true progress and evaluation of the prospects can be held "in pectore" much more easily. No longer does the recruiting staff from one university automatically have access to info coming from someone elses camp. Welcome to the age of sleepers and under the radar prospects fellas!!!! I wish LSU held their camps in total secret and closed to everyone especially the press...but wait, then Nick Saban would really be revealed as a true disciple of Bellichek when he gets caught with spy cameras planted everywhere. Hey, maybe he's the one who did us all a big favor with the Erin Andrews situation. :hihi:. This may be the new era of proprietary recruiting information.!!!! Watchathink?
DE David Perry out of FL was offered at the camp. Only played one year of football after moving to FL from Jamaica.
I was under the impression that he was offered before? The reason being that he also claims offers from Florida and other places, that I doubt are commitable.
