Re: So, what are the odds we pull.......... Not very good. Look for him to end up at OU but there are other slight possibilities and LSU will not make his top 5.
Re: So, what are the odds we pull.......... Eeeeew, damn. That sucks! As I pointed out on another board, it seems like, for the last few years, a disproportionately large number of D-Linemen in the Rivals 250, as opposed to other positions, have LSU in their list of schools they are considering. I think thats great and I hope our tradition of having a great DL continues, as I feel it is a vital part of a championship team. However, I wish we could start pulling some of these elite D-Linemen that we're missing.......i.e. William Campbell, Nick Kasa, Jamarcus McFarland, Alex Okafor, D. Kennard, Donte Moss, Jarvis Jones, Fletcher Cox, Dyron Dye, Jaccobi McDaniel, Sheldon Richardson, Gary Brown, i.e. Now yes, I know we got Davenport and Montgomery, but MANY other highly ranked 4 star and several of the 5 star guys also had us on their list and we weren't able to close.......and several of them didn't even go to competitive schools. Surely we have more to offer than Missouri, Florida State, Miss State, North Carolina, South Florida, and Colorado.
Re: So, what are the odds we pull.......... Well, we landed Woods, a 5 star and it looks like he didn't play up to that hype. We pulled Barksdale and he has been productive, but on the OL. The DL stars continue to be homegrown talent for the most part, Lavalais, Dorsey, Tyson Jackson, etc.. Hopefully Nevis will be the next one to step up.
Re: So, what are the odds we pull.......... I don't even worry about D-Linemen anymore hell you could walk across a cow pasture and kick up a cow patty and find a starting D-Lineman. Now with CLM here I don't worry about the O-Line either.
Re: So, what are the odds we pull.......... I having an extremely hard time wrapping myself around the idea someone is disappointed with our d-line haul the past 5 years. Not saying they have all panned out, but year after year, LSU has one of the top 5 defensive line hauls in recruiting.
Iststl, I didn't mean to give that impression. As I said, looking at the Rivals 250, year after year, there is generally a disproportionately large number of the top D-Linemen who consistently have LSU in their final 3-5 schools. I think this helps confirm the reputation we have as a team that fields and prepares great D-Linemen for the next level. I'm just wondering why, since we do have that much deserved reputation, that even though we do get some great players, we often seem to lose out on those top notch #1-#5 D-Linemen.........often late in the game or in their final choice.........and sometimes to schools like Missouri, Florida State, Colorado, Mississippi State and others who have significantly less to offer than LSU.
