Re: DE Dexter Blackmon commits to LSU! Well, it's 4:55 am...the Blackmon commit was announced by Rivals ariund midnight...and on tigerdroppings...one of the Dexter Blackmon threads has 246 postings on it already. Don't meltdowns usually happen when a recruit fails to commit?

I erased it, Les Miles is the man who has to win with these guys, its his hide on the line so he darn better be making the right choices. Its a tad bit unsettling to say the least but time will tell. I guess this last guy will end up with 4 stars before its over anyway... what do we know... Me? Nothing!!!!:geaux::milesmic:

Re: DE Dexter Blackmon COMMITS to LSU! Confirmed on Scout as well but no articles are out on him yet. If Bama or Auburn offers, he will not be in P&G and the reason he still should be listed as a soft verbal. I am not sure if they are going to offer. Haley saw him along side a ton of DL this week at camp (check the July Camp list) and I can't really argue against Haley with his credentials.
Re: DE Dexter Blackmon commits to LSU! I'm trusting you to be the expert, but it seems to me DT is one of our more pressing needs. Alexander and Wood will be gone after this year and then there's Nevis and some names. Somebody else mentioned that DT was not a huge need. Am I missing something here?
Re: DE Dexter Blackmon commits to LSU! The DL is not a huge need this year but I do feel that 1 DT in this class is a need. DE was stacked last year's class. This guy is a tweener but I think will end up at DT. He has good mobility from what I have heard but I am waiting to see some film.
Re: DE Dexter Blackmon COMMITS to LSU! We still haven't seen Byran Jones in person though right? I thought he was our best shot since he is a LA 4 star DT. The thing I like about him is that he already has enough size now to compete at DT. I wonder if we would still take him even though that would make our numbers tight? Just as others have said we needed different types of RB's, taking 2 undersized DT's 2 years in a row doesn't thrill me. If both Downs and Blackmon end up starting down the road and don't add much size and strength, we may get the ball run down our throat by a team with a huge offensive line. In addition, the consensus seems to be that we are targeting lighter LB's, turning safeties into LB's, etc.. That is fine, but everyone can't be undersized. I understand that he may have looked better than anyone else at camp and anyone we had a real shot at getting since most of the DT's are from OOS (with Jones as the exception) so perhaps our options are just limited. I certainly am not that concerned about star rankings as I have been dissappointed by the play of Woods who was a big time recruit when we nabbed him. There is a huge guy who didn't live up to the hype. He plays too high and is rather slow IMO. I hope he has a break out year.
