Fantastic !!! One of my kitchen employees is a senior at St Paul's and a classmate of Bates. I've heard that Bates is a real class act on the field and off and works hard in everything he does. He seems to have outstanding character also...a real Miles type of player. I wouldn't be surprised if this kid becomes the sleeper of the class in the long run. He seems to be an attitudinal clone of Jacob Hester. :tigereye:.
Man he must really love LSU to pay on his own dime with other offers. Glad to have the guy, to me these are the type of guys you need to get a good mix.
I believe that as well, Miles recruits really good guys, after being burned the first couple of years by hard heads, he is very careful.
I guess the bottom line to LSU football fans is he will use up a scholarship next year. How he works it out with Miles is up to them. TOPS is certainly an advantage for LA players. I don't follow baseball recruiting that much, but with the limited scholarships available TOPS could really help.
TOPs only covers about a third of the total cost per semester. <--- has a daughter at LSU. :rolleye33:
I had Tops and it covered my full tuition. That was 2001-2004 though and not sure if it was scaled back. It was also tier format so the best academic students also got cash for books, etc... each semester.
Look like he is going to stay home and go to ULL instead of taking the preferred Walk-on/with promise of scholarship at LSU. For those with a Subscription: Scout.com: What?s next for Bates?
