We need more than motor, I think Bates wanted to go to ULL for a while. We can pick up someone better, imo. Here's that spot for the coveted O-lineman you speak of.

He might not have the size, but I just like the mix of guys we have right now. It's nice to have guys that will push other guys, he just seems like someone that will push others to do better.

With the defensive article I posted yesterday, I would imagine we have a real need up front... Davenport and Clement to the offense is a possibility, plus moving Mingo back to LB with Montegery.

I do see Davenport possibly moving to guard, but I think he stays at DT, hes a space eater. Clement is probably going to move to TE. But I dont see Bates playing for a while at LSU. We could lose him and Blackmon and I wouldnt lose any sleep. But im not the coach.

:geaux: If he wants to pass up LSU for ULL, there's definitely something wrong with that picture! This rumor was going around a few weeks ago and Bates squashed it. Will have to see if it has legs now, but I'm skeptical of this just because he supposedly bleeds purple and gold and I just can't fathom a kid turning down a full ride to LSU for ULL. Hate to see him go but if he does, it obviously opens up a spot for some of the higher profile kids still on the board. Stay tuned I suppose. :LSU231:

All I can say is if those two move to offense and they start moving DEs to OLB then there is a real need for more upfront. Whether we can snag a few more DLs or not, we are going to need 1-3 of these guys to step-up by the time their second season come around. Of course, there is a lot of time between now and then. I like him from what I can tell from film.

I wouldn't put my money on Bates heading to ULL. Same rumor we have been hearing and Dandy probably got the old rumor from one of his readers. I wouldn't completely rule it out either though if he sees more of an opportunity at ULL. LSU really likes him as a H-Back though.

LSU might be telling him he will be a greyshirt if everyone qualifies in this class...not many recruits like that tune, so they go elsewhere. Could be the case for him.

Well I can't blame him if that is the case. If he has another offer I would probably go else where as well. That would be too bad to me but I don't blame him if that is what is going on.

Gaining weight and has been working on his speed as well. Coming in without a position and going to be tried at a number of positions.

Ok a little different story to this one according to Sonny.

Not a grayshirt but basically a preferred Walk-on with a guarantee for a scholarship when the early enrollees come in for the 2011 class. He can join the team when the rest of the team reports and can use Tops to move on with his degree or pay out of pocket.

Sounds like a team player already.
