I think it is committable. Can't really pass up on the #6 CB when you have a need at the position. He has the height and speed we are looking for. I am sure the staff would want to see him in person but they know he was running track until now and that is the reason he will not make it to the last camp. Only way we are going to see him in person now is when the staff goes and sees him at a game his senior year. He is planning to come for an official visit in the fall.
Baylor dropped out of his top 5 which is good because of their track program. New top 5 are LSU, A&M, Oregon, Tenn, and Texas Tech.
Thanks for the update. I think that A&M will be a strong competitor because of their track program, early playing time on the football team, and within driving distance of his hometown. Baylor could offer something very similar to A&M, yet they were still eliminated so not sure how much this theory may play a factor. Baylor did handle A&M in football last season to the tune of 41-21. So this will be interesing. Pat Henry (@ LSU 1988-2004) has done a remarkable job in a short period of time at A&M, but we shouldn't be surprised. The men's/women's outdoor track teams just won national championships. Whether or not Pat Henry has softened his stance on "not allowing track members to play other sports" could be key. I think that his stance and ego didn't mix well with Saban's ego during his LSU tenure that made for a very delicate situation for Skip to manage. I love how Miles & Shaver (as well as Mainieri, Johnson, Chancellor, etc.) all seem to get along and work well with each other for the betterment of the programs, athletes, and university brand. If the interest is based on winning an NC in football, it would be LSU. If Tyler is looking for early playing time, win track NC, and be within driving distance from home, then it's A&M. (Not fact. Just my opinion.)
Art Briles is a hell of a coach is all I can say. Their recruiting is going to be on the upswing (by Baylor standards, anyway) as long as he's there. I don't think Stephenson really impressed as the last camp so LSU could have cooled on him, but either way he's a talented athlete.
Wow, that was a surprise. I know his mom wanted him there according to what Tyler said a few days ago. If Texas offers him, he will switch IMO. TB45, he was not at the last camp because he was still running track. The coaches have not had a chance to see him on campus yet. We would have taken him if he wanted to commit.
I guess he is trying to stay close to home and get early playing time. Baylor hasn't won anything in --- well ---they've never won anything.
