3* Hurd is an excellent CB who has shown he can hang with some of the top WRs in country like Trovon Reed during camps in TX this past year. His only knock is his height and if he was a little taller and the staff would have remained the same from last year he would have been offered by now. He came in for a visit last weekend and Miles told him an offer is on its way but Cooper wants to evaluate him in person first.

He is out of Missouri City, TX and is really close to Lache, Trovon, Shaun Lewis, and Connor Wood. They have been working out together and keep in constant contact with each other. Sounds like Trovon and Lache have been talking LSU up to him as well.

Most think when he is offered, Hurd would be a lock to LSU and really help us sure up our top targets in Lache and Trovon as well.

He currently holds offers from Auburn, OU, Okie State, Oregon, and A&M.

He will be at LSU for the Spring Game and already attended Junior Day, a camp last year, and a couple of unofficial visits to LSU.

I don't expect Connor Wood to change his commitment from Texas, but I think the other 3 of this proposed package deal could very easily end up in Baton Rouge.

If Hurd gets an offer soon I would not be surprised to see him commit, and that will definitely help with Trovon and Lache. Word around the campfire is that Trovon's interest in Texas might be dwindling anyway.

If I remember correctly, didn't LSU have a basketball player by this same name around 1974. I remember fans in the (then new) PMAC yelling for coach Dale Brown to put him in the game by yelling "Put the Hurd on 'em".

Maybe this Hurd will make his way here to revive this ancient Cheer!!

I'll have to ask Doug Saylor about this next time he comes in my restaurant. Doug was a guard for LSU back then and now coaches in and around Abita Springs.

    Anyone remember? Sabanfan?

Good to see a kid understand the offer process.

He said LSU and OU have verbally offered and he expects official written offers soon from both. LSU and OU are still at the top and I think he is ours if we want him.

He was MVP at the LSU camp last summer and is just waiting for Ron Cooper to evaluate him before receiving his LSU offer.

He will also be down for another camp this summer.

I guess the biggest question with Hurd would be his size.

I just looked at pictures of him. He is listed at 5'8" 165lbs at a combine on Scout. On rivals they have him at 5'9" 185lbs. By the look of some of the pictures, probably the most recent, he looks like a little body builder. It doesn't look like he can get much bigger. He doesn't look like a prototypical CB.

His size is up for debate but overall it is an issue the coaches need to evaluate. However, I hear he has been tearing up the cap circuit and Trovon said he was very hard to match up with.

Cooper went to visit Hurd yesterday to see his scrimmage and Hurd put on a show.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets his official offer before the summer camp but I think one will be extended at least by that time.

He and Shaun Lewis actually called Miles together the other day discussing their progress and Miles gets the 1st call from Hurd each week.

If we want him, we got him. I think it comes down to how comfortable the staff is with his height.

Its tough being that short playing CB in the SEC. But if he has the skills Id take him.
