My only concern is why are his yards per carry are only around 5? Normally you see around 7 ypc for top recruits. Trovon Reed, for example, averages over 7 a carry while playing QB. Hopefully, Ware is getting terrible blocking in high school. It looks like he matured a great deal in a year based on the pictures I saw and was reported to weigh as much as 230lbs. at one point. He looks to have good vision and cutting ability, but not much speed after his initial burst. I watched the video of him running the 40 and you could see he didn't have another gear after 25 or 30 yards. That is alright as long as he adjusts to college speed and knows he is not going to beat many defenders around the end.
He plays QB and I am sure the ruling is if you get sacked in the backfield attempting to throw the ball, you get it counted as negative yardage on a "rushing" play, as opposed to a sack. Thus the lower average.
someone said his competition was high, too, so that may affect ypc if you are comparing to someone with less competition.
Yes I looked the sack rule up before I posted, but when I saw that Reed had a 7 ypc avg. playing QB too it kind of disproved that theory. I almost added that I hoped he got sacked a lot in my original post, but thought people wouldn't understand what I was referring to and didn't want to go on a tangent and try to explain myself.
Offers are conditional.. and if Storm (or his father) violated part of his commitment.. then the 'verbal contract' would be voided. I don't think Les did the guy wrong. If he did.. i'll have to subtract some 'integrity' points.
I think it has more to do with running style. Reed likes to take it outside.. and Ware is more of a up the gut type.
Like everyone else, I'm clueless as to what transpired between LSU, Storm Johnson, and his dad. But whatever transpired, Coach Miles is probably real wary of pushy dads who communicate with him through the press after last year's debacle with Ruben Randle's dad. I think we're going after high character type recruits and we're in position to be very selective when it comes down to it. Who knows? (We'll probably never know).
lolz, it's amazing what people take out of 2 minute highlight reels. Storm didn't even start for his high school team, and he's the best recruit in this class? Give me a break.
I have no idea what LSU thinks, but the questions on Storm from people that have seen him have to do with his toughness. He's a big back that tries to be cute and run like a small back. On his highlights, not once have I seen him run over someone. And I also haven't seen him run in traffic. There are also questions about him not being the greatest team player, and some of that leading to his transfer from Buford. Buford's OL had multiple college prospects on it, so he may have benefitted from that as well. I think Storm is faster than Ware, but Ware is more agile and has less overall question marks about him.
Re: Spencer Ware COMMITS to LSU!!! Agree definitely think he had something to do with him commiting..also how much was OSU recruiting him...Wonder how this affects Storm and hope this doesnt turn negative really want Storm at LSU. Right now imo Storm is better
