 I was just reading a comment from an Aggie Fan from Shreveport (East Texas) the other day telling his fellow Aggie fans that he strongly hopes the Aggies get Fobbs to shut up all the LSU fans in Shreveport that were telling him that if LSU wants Fobbs, we will get Fobbs. LOL @ the Aggies. Some pay-back for those 5 straight losses aTm handed LSU when they last played us in the 90's when Louisiana-boy RC Slocum was their coach.
I just love it how one minute people are all high on one recruit, and the second it looks like he's going elsewhere people get really personal and dirty like wishing torn ACL's on them and what not. Makes the fans look pretty bad.. Unfortunately, we have our share of those fans too.
Aggies are saying he pulled some kind of fake fax deal as he was announcing. Is this true? I hope not. Does anyone have video?
I could care less if he did or not. If he did that, it is really no reflection on his character either way. As much as I don't like the "hat trick" cliche, I understand why these kids do it. They are young, nervous, and this is the biggest decision of their life so far. The "fax trick" is a novel variation on the "hat trick" thing. Seriously, if he had a bunch of hats on the table and started to grab the A&M hat, then switched to an LSU hat would that be grounds for Aggie fans to go berserk? Does it make a difference that he had LOIs for different schools instead of hats? To say that this would somehow make him disreputable is almost laughable. I mean, really? I'm glad he is a Tiger. LSU is a better program for him. End of story.
Funny how forgiving we are when we're the one the kid goes too. Pretty infantile in my mind and I hate when guys do it but Les and staff will give him some character.
Not entirely accurate, I think everyone had nothing but good things to say about Reed and how he handled his recruitment. It has a lot to do with how the recruit handles it and Reed was very honest and respectful. Kids have the right to decide where they want to go and with the craziness of recruiting they surely have the right to change their mind also. How the recruit handles it has a large part in how the fans react.
so how does all that fit with faxing a signed LOI to ATM on national television only to press cancel as it's being scanned?
Yes, the hat/fax thing is juvenile, but that is what these kids are! They are 17 year old kids. To the best of my knowledge, Fobbs simply changed his mind. He did not deceive A&M in some Kiffinesque scheme like was the case with Janzen Jackson.
If I'm not mistaken the whole fax thing is a joke, but Aggie Land is in total melt down mode today so they're having trouble differentiating reality from fiction. They are always entertaining..good or bad.
That's why I posed my initial question. If it didn't happen, no big deal, if it did, that's not a huge deal either but I can assure you some here, me included would be screaming. I just hate a "me first" attitude and hate when those are the guys we have to root for.
