OK, my only comment is this: off season boredom has officially set in when we start talking about not the coming football season but the next one.

Actually, that's not my only comment. I have two other things to say about 2009. Russell. Shepard.

I don't expect him to set the world on fire in '09. But I am so incredibly excited to see him in a Tiger uniform that it's scary.

Considering the players we lose and how special this class is going to be, I expect several members to contribute right away. Shepard, in particular, will likely be a change of pace QB.

i thought this was to be THE year, not last year (but considering 2 Ls every year maybe theyve all been THE year or last year was just another year and lsu got the breaks.) after JR decided to leave early i had pegged 08 because of the OL and perrilloux would have been seasoned.

great teams need to have top OL, DL and solid QB. 08 has at least 2 of 3 and 09 may not have any.

at UGA throws a bit of a wrench in the "easy odd year schedule"

as an aside, since i live in athens, im looking at the next two years not as opportunities for LSU to win the NC, but as two opportunities to prevent UGA from winning. it would absolutely kill them (and perhaps develop a strong rivalry) if LSU beat them each year, and they otherwise had great seasons.

I really don't see this as a rebuilding year. Last year was more of that to me. When looking at the most important part of football the line we are stacked two deep on both sides of the ball. It's not like we are counting on freshmen to come in and start. I think that Hatch will good things while Lee settles. Our RB's are nasty, and the OLine is so dominant people will have to load the box to stop us.

On D are LB's are upgrading in athleticism and with our Dline full of freaknasties it will allow our young corners to not have to run with WR's all day.

Special teams has to get better than last year.

I think a lot of people are quick to jump to rebuilding when it's just a new class of players getting their turn. La Tech, SMU, even Bama are rebuilding.

All good input, but I'm talking about the year after this one for this thread. :thumb:

Good point. Miles hasn't been near as susceptible to the even-odd year record differences as Saban was. Perhaps I should stop taking that into consideration.

Exactly what concerns me so much about '09. We'll have talent at OL & DL, but it will be inexperienced & lack leadership. Depth along the lines is also a concern at this point.
