:geaux::crystal::helmet: Agree with your response 100% Parso. Character is just as important as talent in many respects, and this sometimes gets overlooked in the whole scheme of things. I believe that one of the main reasons LSU's program is where it's at today is because of recruting players with great talent and character. Players getting in trouble constantly is like a cancer to a program. See Gerry DiNardo's demise. Talent will carry a program for a while, but lack of character will ultimately bring a program down. I certainly hope in-state coaches will start pushing character more. It makes a difference. :geauxtige:champs::LSU231:
Good read with Miles discussing the new recruiting rule, the QB position with RP and JJ, and the overall class thus far. http://www.tigerrag.com/?p=1021
Well, let's see. Let's assume Lee starts this year. 2008: Lee (RSFr), Hatch (Jr), Jefferson (RS) 2009: Lee (So), Hatch (Sr), Jefferson (RSFr), Shep (RS), Garrett (RS?) 2010: Lee (Jr), Jefferson (So), Shep (RSFr), Garrett (RSFr?) 2011: Lee (Sr), Jefferson (Jr), Shep (So), Garrett (So?) 2012: Jefferson (Sr), Shep (Jr), Garrett (Jr) 2013: Shep (Sr), Garrett (Sr) So, for Shep to start 4 years, he has to beat Lee out as a Jr with two years starting under his belt. Not to mention Jefferson. For Shep to start 3 years, he has to beat Lee as a Sr. Honestly, it's a great problem to have, but I don't see Shep as a 4 yr starter. Sharing time in 2011 and taking the #1 job in 2012 is more likely I think. JJ has to get on his horse!
Starting QB at LSU is not what it used to be. Every year I expect to see 2 or 3 guys per season get their fair share in Crowton's offense. One thing is for sure, depth will not be a problem in the coming years. :geaux:
I agree that, if he's as good as he appears to be, it would be tough to RS him. But does that mean LSU uses him in the oft-suggested Percy Harvin mold (I guess Early Doucet, for Tiger fans!)? Seems to me we've told him he'll play QB. If he does play QB, and if he doesn't RS as you suggest, then I guess you think he'll put both Lee and Jefferson on the bench or at least share the job? Seems we have an embarrassment of riches in the QB department. We're not even really discussing Garrett, who is probably going to be a good one as well.
Pretty good rundown of what LSU has at each position, who we have committed and their abilities, and guys we are looking at the fill the rest of our needs. Missing a few guys here and there but overall a good read. http://www.tigerrag.com/?p=1089
