Just so you don't lay any accountability on the parents. It's all the schools and the kids to blame.

If having NCAA aspirations, accompanied with potential, is not enough of a motivation to buckle down and apply themselves there's not much else that would imo.

Hear Hear..... Parents certainly have to shoulder some of the blame.... Most of it really... especially with a college education & possibly millions in pro contracts available..

Parso you seem to know a lot so I don't doubt what you are saying. I would just like to know why you are so confident in Loston and McFarland.

I'm not overly confident on these two, but I believe we have a great shot at both & would put our chances at at least 50% for both based on their comments, insiders word, and Shepard.

I'm not sure how I feel about those two. I still think it's going to be really tough to take McFarland from Texas, especially with his mother pushing him that way.

As for Loston..I just don't know with him. I like our chances, especially since he hasn't committed to Clemson after his visit, but..I just don't know. I've got a weird feeling about him.

the word is that we are in the lead w/ mcfarland which is awesome b/c him and davenport would be sick all of our opponents would almost be forced to go hawaii on us
Loston's leaders are clemson and us and I think that we will get him eventually after he takes his visit to us and Shep works on him but Shep guaranteed him to LSU so that that for what it's worth

:geaux::crystal::helmet: I think the vast majority of the problem is with the kids themselves, with the rest to the parents. Sure the system is not the best, but it seems to me that a lot of these kids all the sudden "wake up" toward the end of the junior year or later and realize, "Hey, I ain't qualified for Div. 1 !!!! What am I going to do!!! Guess I better work on my grades or somethin'!!!" All that slackin' on the academics catches up with them before they know it. Also, the parents probably didn't keep tabs as close as maybe they could have. Anyway, can't be too much fun tryin' to all of the sudden try to make good grades for change, take extra courses, study, etc. after not being used to doin' those sorts of things.
I agree with Parso that this class may be less than 50% La. kids. It's possible. But if the out of state kids qualify and the in-staters don't, LSU doesn't have much choice. I also agree that kids like Randle, Davenport and maybe Bell will have their spots held for them. I'll feel a lot better when they're on the "Commit List" though. :geauxtige:champs::LSU231:

With two Rivals 100 CBs last year & at least 1 this year - they may just have to forfeit.

I'm thinking that once we get McFarland's mom over here for an official she won't be pushing him to Texas anymore, and then we should have the upper hand (if we don't already).

Bowden is a mediocre coach, but somehow someway the guy gets some impressive talent over at Clemson. It will be a tough fight for Loston because Clemson loses 2 Safeties while LSU's depth chart is not quite as attractive. In the end, I believe that the benefits of our overall program combined with Shepard will make him chose LSU.

Most of the Louisiana guys are going to qualify, or at least be very close - close enough to sign a D1 LOI. This year's Louisiana guys are no different than a usual year in terms of qualifying. Every year some guys don't qualify & several go down to the wire to see if they will qualify. The difference this year is that most of the out of state guys won't even be close, they'll make the grades with relative ease.

As talented as this class is, their character may be what separates them from the pack.

Ultimately, it may benefit Louisiana because it will make coaches push their top players harder in the classroom & off the field if they are not just competing for scholarships on athleticism but character as well. That may be a reach though...
