How much of this plays into Ford already being a commit and his potential 5 star status? Uncommitted prospects always seem to be the ones that are raised to 5 stars since these recruiting services also base their rankings on who and the number of top schools offering the recruit. Once a player is committed the number of offers steadily decline for some that are considered locks and there is no media hype that the services can bank on unless he is thought to be a threat to waiver down the line. Not really concerned either way but would like some insight.
He was before Scout did more evaluations around the country and moved him to a 4*. Not sure if he has been evaluated by Rivals yet.
Already being committed is part of it. The services' ultimate goal is to sell subscriptions - having top rated prospects that lots of schools follow is good for business, thus uncommitted guys get some favoritism over committed guys. However, I don't think Ford will be a 5 star because Mike S (owner of Tigerbait) will not give him his due & pass it on.
Speaking of Mike S, what is the real deal with him? I constantly hear stuff like this, like he is anti-LSU.....or is it that he just doesn't have the balls to speak highly of our prospects? I don't get it. What's going on with that. Sounds frustrating to me.
He always sounds pro LSU on Buddy's show on Wednesdays. Is Louisiana the only state he has? Your saying that if LSU gets a player he is 4* & if someone else (bama) gets him he is 5*?? I don't know, just asking. Does everyone feel that way??
First of all, I think Mike S is a jort-wearing (documented fact) deuche (no solid evidence yet). He runs his site like the people paying for his service owe him something, and is just generally a bad business man with poor personal skills. Further, he lacks any voice in the Rivals community to get our state's players better rated. For instance, the Texas site guys have are influential and get the players they want higher rated. However, I'm not sure that this even matters as Mike's talent evaluation skills are subpar anyway - so any of his recommendations would probably be piss poor. I'm not sure if he truly is an LSU fan or not, but it often doesn't seem like it. I much prefer Sonny of TigerRag - it's a shame he is with Scout (Rivals is much better as a network).
When will Rivals rate the 2009 players?? will they have to wait till high school football starts again to rerate?
