Re: Montrell Conner is a Tiger! Bilbo at Moss Point. They lost to Bradie James' West Monroe team that year along with Cedric Benson's and Eric Winston's Midland Lee team. WM Fans kept hearing about Bilbo being the second coming of Mike Vick and such. IIRC, he didn't do much and Moss Point was never really in the game. BTW, Moss Point and Midland Lee were their respective state champs that year also. WMHS defeated both the TX and MS state champ teams. WMHS finished the year ranked #1.
Re: Montrell Conner is a Tiger! I'm pretty sure Moss Point beat Midland Lee that year. Also, the WM game was VERY close, coming down to the last few seconds. MP was most certainly "in it"! They would have likely beaten WM that year, is not for SEVEN turnovers by MP. When he was in HS, Bilbo looked like the second coming of Vick (only without the character issues). He dominated every high school game I saw him play as a senior. High school success does not necessarily translate into college success.

Re: Montrell Conner is a Tiger! First, he wasn't saying that Midland Lee beat MP...he was saying that WM beat BOTH. (I agree that it was hard to read, though) Second, the bolded part is just funny to me. If not for WM scoring more points than MP, MP would've won, too.:hihi:

Re: Montrell Conner is a Tiger! I don't know if Moss Point did play Midland Lee, but I do know that WMHS did and beat them. I saw both games and Moss Point kept the score close, but they were never really in it. WM's offense had several miscues as well. The best defense in the country kept them in it and ultimately won it for them.
Re: Montrell Conner is a Tiger! Has Montrell Conner ever played linebacker in high school? Is the thinking that he will do a lot of it this fall hoping to satisify LSU & get a offer? Would his coach keep him at running back which would seem to be a lot to ask of a player - RB on offence & LB on defense... Is everyone satisified up in that area or are they still kinda bent outa shape over the not accepted committment?
Re: Montrell Conner is a Tiger! Good question, I don't know how much LB he played. However, it isn't unheard of in high school to play both ways. On a team I followed last year both RB's played LB too. They played RB almost every down and basically aternated series or played as much as possible at LB. The team had very little depth and they were by far the best athletes. I don't think Conner's high school coach cares about satisfying LSU though, and will do what is best for his team whether or not that means Conner plays LB or whatever. I know I am rambling, but I feel bad for Conner and I hope we find room for him. He is a great athlete and wants to come to LSU, but plays a position, RB, where we are loaded.
