Just a question.....If this kid wants to come, has a #1 Recuit ever been a flop? Jarring injury of course. Not the #1 RB, #1 WR, #1 QB, but #1 recuit in the country ever turned out to be a bust? A bird in the hand is better than one in the bush. I think Lache will be a GREAT college back, but if Brown wants to come here now he has to be a take. Lache is still a year away and as we seen this year ANYTHING can happen!

#1 Ranked Recuit in the NATION

Jimmy Clausen was #1 in 07. Whether he's a bust or not is debatable, but not with me.

Ernie Sims in 2003. Not a bust but not as good as a #1 should be. Actually, I looked a little deeper and he was pretty good, just had a not so great junior year. Not so great being relative.

Derrick Williams in 05 was definitely not a bust.

the others since 02 included Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin, Vince Young, Terrell Pryor.

If we have any chance at getting brown i say throw everything we have at him. There is no gurantee that were going to get lache seastrunk. have you seen this guys list of schools.....LSU,USC,OU,UT,AND MIAMI are the main competitors this kid could end up anywhere so we better not be counting that egg before it hatches.....

Wasn't RP the #1 recruit in the nation when he signed?

A toss up, depending on the service. He and Mark Sanchez were basically tied.

I'm not sure that Brown's "issues" with his mentor are that much different in terms of an interference/distraction than a kid with really bad grades or family problems at home. The majority of players probably fall into one or both of those categories. I understand the concern as I'd have some as well if he does look in USC's direction but I believe that just about ANY D1 coach would give this kid a schollie.

From what I can tell, the mentor hasn't been involved or interfered with the older brother so no reason to suspect things would change. And I agree with the poster(s) who said you have to take the sure thing when it's offered as opposed to hoping you get somebody else down the line.

After all, that's why we went after Trent Richardson so hard wasn't it?
