I can definitely expect as good a QB play in '09 as in '07. Flynn was good but not great. He was a game manager. Not a great arm, but could make things happen with his legs. The only thing JJ is lacking is experience. But in his 2 starts, he came a long way in a short time. He showed poise and leadership. The future looks bright for this kid.
We averaged, what, 185-200 yards per game rushing in 2007? We were balanced. Balance is the key for us. I thought Flynn did a real good job at QB for us in '07. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
I'll be very surprised if JJ has better stats next year than Flynn had. IMO, getting Flynn-caliber production out of our QBs next year is the most we can realistically expect. Personally, I expect our QB situation to be not quite that good (but close) until the bowl game next year.
No doubt. He did exactly what he was asked to do. He just wasn't asked to carry the team because he didn't have too.
Exactly. JJ doesn't have the experience Flynn had. That's why I'm only expecting JJ to be as good as Flynn was next year. Now when JJ gets said experience, he could be a great QB for LSU. He's got a good head on his shoulders and seems to have that "it" factor. Time will tell.
I don't know if 09 will be better or worse(no way it could be worse?). After watching the bowl game one would think we are gonna be a lot better but JJ was playing against Arkansas also & that was a bummer. I feel that if the team plays up to its potential & the coaches do a better job then the quarterbacks will all have more time & a better team to play with. I think JJ will start, will not lose the job & will do a much better job than we had last year.. :thumb:
:geaux: If JJ can come close to a Flynn-like performance in '09 I'll be thrilled. Don't really expect him to surpass Flynn's level of play, IMO. If he can direct the offense efficiently, limit mistakes and get the ball to the playmakers i.e. Flynn, that's exactly what LSU needs. He doesn't need to be superman to be a successful field general. Flynn and Mauck weren't super QB's in the overall scheme of things. Both however were exceptional field generals that minimized mistakes and excelled in getting the ball in the hands of the playmakers. JJ has the potential to do those same things and we saw flashes of that in the Ga. Tech game. :LSU231:
Premature diagnosis. Lee still has the best arm. His problems reading defenses are fixable by coaching and experience. He's only a freshman. I expect all five quarterbacks to be in the mix in the spring. Whoever ends up #5 may transfer to find some playing time. It may not be Lee.
I agree completely. What some are forgetting is that Flynn was in the system for a lot longer than JJ before he took over. Being the clip board holder and yrs of experience is a huge asset. I think you are right on the nose with we have a stable full of potential talent, now the "Chosen One" needs some game experience. Better, and making less mistakes will be my expectations.
