Not his fault. If you were playing golf against Jack Nicklaus tomorrow, would you just roll over and forfeit the $1M+ purse and the Clarett Jug just to be the bridesmaid to the old guy? Of course you'd try to win it, too. He's not a villain here. If Watson wanted to win bad enough, make a 7-foot putt on 18. Or don't finish +infinity on the playoff.
I can't even put into words how Stewart Cink is undeserving of ANY major championship, much less this one. This is brutal.
Dude completed 72+ holes in less strokes than his competitor. Made a big-league birdie on 18 to get to -2. How is he undeserving? I mean, it's one thing to be mad that your grandpa didn't win, but don't hate on the guy who did win. He won the playoff by 4-5 shots (after I stopped watching).
I can't believe some of the things I've read on this page. :rolleye33: Watson was two feet away from hitting the perfect shot into #18. If I would second guess him on anything it would be using the putter on the third shot. The man is the greatest chipper in pressure situations I've ever seen in 40+ years of playing and watching golf. And Cink is a hell of a man, a hell of a competitor, and a deserving champion.
Stewart Cink is one of the better golfers to never have won one. Ive heard multiple tour guys, including Jack Nicklaus, say he is the best guy out there right now that has not won one.
