From a college football fan perspective I like it because it gives that much less incentive for underclassmen to leave early which improves the quality of play the fan sees on the field.
Less incentive AFTER April 2009's draft. That is when Goodell is suppose to restructure the rookie contracts. If he restructures it where there is a significant reduction in the money an NFL team can pay incoming rookies then there's more incentive to stay that one more year in college to prepare yourself to be successful in the pros rather than jumping early to simply get the "big money".
Has he played this season, I dont recall him being on the field. Another question, on a level from 1 to 10, how concern are you with both of our lines next year?
He lined up at TE one play for sure, and a few times at RG. The coaches are very high on him. A 7 or 8. We lose a lot of talent & depth. We replace the starters with guys who will be good, but the depth behind them is worrisome & we'll also miss their seniority/leadership.
I watched the replay and on one play near the goal line, Dworaczyk donned a #81 jersey and lined up at TE. I don't know the rules well enough, but I guess you can switch uniforms in the middle of a game? Dworaczyk was wearing #68 when he was playing RG. I also guess you must have a number in the 80s to play TE (or something under #20 like Dickson).
Will all due respect I can't see how you list that concern level at a 7 or 8. You say on one hand Ciron will stay. That gives us (and these are your projections): LT Black (beast) LG Dworaczyk (getting valuable PT this year) C Hebert (got a ton of reps in summer camp with Helms down) RG Hitt (on his way to being a beast) RT Barksdale (beast) I wouldn't think twice about the O-line's performance next season. Add to that 2 consecutive solid classes of recruiting O-linemen and we're just fine at the backup positions (I project Faulk backing up as a true freshman). On the D-line, we have way too much talent and plenty of depth. I didn't even list Aghayere. RJF will be back if he doesn't end up becoming much more dominant that he has shown up until now. Throw in Davenport, Brockers, and possibly McFarland, oh boy. One of those guys probably end up in the 3 deep as a true freshman. I would rate the concern at about a 2 or 3. LSU will have dominant O-line and D-line's for the foreseeable future.
LSU will have adequate lines in the next few years. We'll have to wait and see on dominant. Lots of intangibles there. If Black and Jean-Francois go pro early, the situation gets sobering quickly.
