1/3 of the way through. Which race has been your fave seaux far? I have seen surveys show Talladega, Martinsville, and Phoenix are the top three. I like those results but I want to give the edge to Phoenix over Martinsville. There is just some damn good racing in the desert.

Least favorite; Fontana, the 600 last weekend, Bristol was a HUGE disappointment. You?

    Tony Jr. is fired.

NASCAR - Eury Jr. out as Earnhardt's crew chief - FOX Sports on MSN

This is long overdue. In my opinion, he was one of the problems when he was at DEI. I think Dale's problem is that he doesn't have a crew chief that (in his opinion) knows what's best. You have to know that Rick Hendrick will put the best man he can find with him. Jr. needs someone that is family to tell him to "shutup and drive". I think now that this has happened in the next 3 years if Jr. hasn't made significant progress, then the problem is definately him.

Rick is a phenom at hiring within and firing within. I already believe Dale Jr. is the problem. Poor Eury, he can't help it when he isn't told what to fix, or over corrects the wrong thing. Hendrick cars are used to unloading top 15 on the speed charts.

Lance McGrew, sitting on the box this weekend is a native from Baton Rouge!

    EDIT: Next weekend

Funny you say that Hendrick unloads in the top 15. Dave Moody on Nascar Radio this afternoon was saying that first thing this morning they took off the cars that Tony setup and loaded up cars with the "Hendrick" setup.

I agree with you about Jr being the problem. It's about time that now the onus will be on him because he can't argue with Hendricks track record. Everyone in that organization is golden. In fact I think Smokes crew cheif is the guy that sat in for Chad Knaus a couple years ago when he got suspended for 4 weeks and they still ran top 5.

Absolutely Junior is a huge part, if not all of the problem. Arguably the most overrated performer in professional sports.

Not sure about Hendricks unloading in the Top 15. Jimmie Johnson surely doesn't; he frequently looks like an accident waiting to happen in the early stages of races. It's Jimmie's driving and Chad Knaus' ability to adjust the car during the race that makes that team great.

No, it is pretty accurate. When I say unloading, that means the speeds held in the first practice, right off the truck. With exception to Bristol and Talladega, all Hendrick drivers minus Mark Martin are well within the top 15, including Jr 2/3 of that time. I give Mark a pass getting adjusted to his new surroundings but at the last few tracks, the 5 crew have picked up their step. Your point is valid though about JJ and Chad, NOBODY adjust better in a race then those two. 48 can be a lap down and still be a contender. I hate em for it.

Listened to Jr. on the radio this morning commenting on the split. He said "we wanted it so bad to work". This coming from the same dude that wanted wins and championships NOW, leaving DEI. That sounds to me like a combination of desire and complete confusion as to how they would ever achieve that desire. Fishheads remarks about their radio chatter at Texas would be the perfect example. I don't want to turn into a Jr. basher, just that it was obvious the combination did not work. For the most popular driver in NASCAR what, 6 years running, one would expect better performance. That means his daddies fans net to let it geaux.

Rain tonight in Dover. I pray they get qualifying in cause I have Brad Keselowski from the C- group. I really want this kid in the race. Dover is just his kind of race. I am interested to see how Logano will perform though I did not pick him, this being a short track.

I have BK too, along with another who won't have to depend on qualifying to get in. I also make sure that right now, its the other guy who's on my race day lineup, just in case I forget to go back and make changes after qualifying. Learned that one the hard way a couple of years ago.
