Who's gonna win each division, wild card, MVP, CyYoung, and World Series? Here's mine NL East: Phillies (Mets have improved the back of the bull pen, but the Phils are in their heads) NL Central: Cards (Cubs are gonna figure out a way to screw it up as usual) NL West: Dodgers (I'm not impressed with any team in this division) NL Wild Card: Atlanta (no reason, just a gut feeling) NL Cy Young: Cole Hamels NL MVP: Pujols AL West: Anaheim (not much in wy of competition in this division) AL Central: Twins (don't be shocked if the Royals make a run at it though) AL East: All 3 contenders have serious questions Yanks: CC has a LOT of innings on that arm already, and never faced the pressures of playing in New York. Can Teixieria carry the entire lineup for the 1st month or so? Burnett can only last an entire season if it's a contract year (and this ain't one of them) Boston: Jason Bay ain't Manny Ramirez, how effective will Lowell be coming back from his injury? Will Ortiz remember that he's Ortiz? Penny and Smoltz coming off of injuries. JD Drew will miss his usual 40-50 games Tampa: Can't sneak up on anyone now. How will they respond to having the targets on their backs? Can they do it again? Give me Boston just 'cause I'm a fan of theirs, but this one is as wide open as I've seen it in a few years. not gonna pick a Wild Card team yet. wanna see how April shapes up 1st. AL MVP: Josh Hamilton (Grady Sizemore will be in the discussion) AL Cy Young: Felix Hernandez
NL East: Florida (may not win it, but they will suprise some people; Johnson and Nolasco are very good) NL Central: Cubs (I'd love to pick the Cards, but they don't have the pitching. Carpenter won't hold up for a full season) NL West: Dodgers (the Giants will make a run; a lot will depend on Unit staying healthy) NL Wild Card: Mets NL Cy Young: Lincecum NL MVP: Hanley Ramirez (I really expect it to be Pujols, but I don't want to be a homer--no pun intended). AL West: Angels (Oakland will contend if Cahill and Brett Anderson can contribute early) AL Central: Detroit (it's their last chance to make a run) AL East: Toughest to call. Yankees have enough pitching to last until AROD gets back AL Wild Card: Tampa AL MVP: Ian Kinsler AL Cy Young: Zack Greinke
NL East: Mets NL Central: Cubs NL West: Dodgers NL Cy Young: Johan Santana NL MVP: David Wright Can you tell I'm a Mets guy? I'll get back with you later on my NL predictions.
NL East: Braves (Call me the ultimate homer, but Lowe, Vazquez, that Jap guy and Tommy Hansen will all be huge additions to the rotation this year to go with Jurrijens). NL Central: Cubs (by 10 games) NL West: Dodgers (I almost picked the Giants, because I really think they are a sleeper team, but I will go safe with the Dodgers.) NL Wildcard: Mets (K-Rod puts them over the top of the Phillies imo) NL MVP: Manny Ramirez NL Cy Young: Tim Lincecum Sleeper for NL MVP: Jay Bruce (major long shot, b/c the Reds will suck) Sleeper for Cy Young: Derek Lowe AL East: Yankees by a wide margin. Sabathia, Burnett, Tex make them a far better club -- not like they were half bad before. Al Central: Twins - I have no reason to pick them. They just always seem to win when they not expected to. Al West: Angels - Still the best club out west Al Wildcard: Red Sox - Tampa won't be able to play with the bulls-eye on their backs for all 162 games. AL MVP: Josh Hamilton AL Cy Young: CC Sabathia Sleeper for AL MVP - A-Rod. I know he will miss a month, but if he comes out rakin', the media will be hot on his nuts Sleeper for AL Cy Young - Dice-K - Probably has the best pure stuff in baseball. He just throws so many balls and gets so many walks.
NL Division Winners: Mets Cubs DBacks WC: Phillies Awards: D. Wright Santana AL Division Winners: Yankees Twins Angels WC: Red Sox Awards: Matt Holliday CC Sabathia
All I need to know is the over/under on cubs wins. Lets just say that the number is 92. I will let you know which side I'm on after I see the feedback.:thumb:
over 92. for sure. Zambrano, Harden, etc... in the rotation combined with baseball's best offense combined with a very weak division that is without the Brewers being relevant = over 92.
Why has no one with a spare penny signed Ben Sheets yet? I know he's injury prone, but he's a really good injury prone pitcher.
ehh... Good luck getting Harden out there for more than 100 innings, and Zambrano has begun a sharp decline. I still think they'll have enough to win the division, but they still have a lot of questions.
