My web blocker won't let me get the numbers, but I think Tennessee held Florida to its season-low in offensive totals this year. Or maybe it was last year. At any rate, Tenn. seems to have done better against them than most. If anybody can verify or disprove, please do. John? :hihi:
I think the SEC West comes down to Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss next year and likely won't be decided until the final weekend. Alabama & LSU have more talent than Ole Miss but the Rebels have the most experienced quality QB. LSU has the tougher schedule versus the SEC East. LSU: Vandy, @UGA, Florida Alabama: @Kentucky, USC, Tennessee Ole Miss: @Vandy, @USC, Tennessee If LSU gets consistent QB play preventing the LBs & secondary from stacking the line, we control more clock and wear down defenses more than we were able to this season. If LSU's young secondary is as good as they appear to be, the D-Line should be able to pressure the QB much more than this season while also slowing the run. Saban will want to run the ball but will still need to occasionally throw to keep the defenses honest. Will their new QB have what it takes? Can he just throw it up for grabs and let Jones run under it? Which team gets the services of Randle? Only time will tell. If all three played identical schedules and remained healthy all season, I would pick LSU slightly ahead of Alabama & Ole Miss for the SEC West crown. With a tougher schedule and an unknown QB situation, I think it's anybody's game. Currently Florida is the toughest team in the SEC. We would need to defeat them twice while Alabama & Ole Miss would only need to win just once to be SEC Champs. Ole Miss would want to play someone other than Florida in Atlanta as the Gators won't soon forget their 1-point loss. I'm looking for wins @Washington, Vandy, ULL, @Miss St., Auburn, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, & Arkansas The other four could go either way but I look for LSU to win at least one or two. @UGA, Florida, @Alabama, @Ole Miss 10-3 or so sounds about right for now...considering this is only January 5th
Interesting...The schedule may lighten up a tad bit. With news that Stafford and Moreno are leaning towards going into the NFL draft, LSU's record and SEC 'ship chances could be impacted in a good way next season. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=3815504
I was kinda thinking the same way about Georgia. They may very well be looking at a rebuilding year. Florida will be the power to beat (of course), unless Tebow is gone. But they DID just lose their OC...so who knows how well they will click under new management. Vandy is always IN the games they play, so it doesn't surprise me that they had enough bounces their way this year to get to seven wins. I think they used a lot of good Karma this year and they won't be much of a threat. Alabama is just going to be a matter of stopping the run. Our LBs will be seasoned and (by then) well-coached enough to put them to rest. Ole Miss may be rising from the ashes. I think this is our second-most realistic chance for a loss behind Florida. Auburn - Gene Chizik....'nuff said! :hihi: Arkansas is my surprise team. They were better than their record, and I'm not just saying that because they beat us.
9-4 with losses to Georgia, Florida, 'Bama, and Ole Miss. I think we could go 10-3 if we get past Georgia because according to Rivals, Stafford and Moreno are gone. This puts us back in the Chick-fil-a Bowl because they're conference losses. Florida is going to be a good team, no doubt. 'Bama has good coaching and will be able to replace key players enough to beat us. I think Jevan Snead will be an excellent QB next season, maybe the best pocket passer in the SEC, and with Nutt at head coach, they will beat us. I think we win the bowl game because of how great the coaching staff prepares and the lack of depth in the ACC.
[ LSU has the tougher schedule versus the SEC East. LSU: Vandy, @UGA, Florida Alabama: @Kentucky, USC, Tennessee Ole Miss: @Vandy, @USC, Tennessee This is just so unfair. Will we ever stop playing UGA and FLA?
We rotate Georgia like everyone else (except Auburn, their permanent opponent), so they will drop off in 2010. Personally, I hope we keep Florida as our permanent opponent. I like playing them every year.
You REALLY only see us improving by ONE game?? You give us a possible second game based on one of the teams losing star power. You need more faith, man! Our problems this year: QB...Fixed Lack of DC...Fixed. Hurricane...Unlikely two years in a row. We MIGHT drop a game we should win to go 10-2 reg. season.
