Greetings from Rocky Top ( no trolling here LSU is my favorite SEC West team). What kind of year are you guys expecting to get this year?
Looks like it might be a 10 win or at least a 9.
Think you guys can knock off Bama or Florida?
Hows the QB working out over there?

Welcome to the board! We don't have any resident Vol fans, maybe you can be it. We've got Ole Miss, Auburn and Bama covered pretty good, few Gators at the right time of year. I prefer not having Hog fans given how the visitors have been jerks in the past. This is a good board. You'll get ribbed, but if you stick it through and earn respect for fair and balanced reporting, you will get along great.

We have 5 hard games, Bama, Ole Miss, Ga., Fla. and Auburn. Fla. will be a big fav. with Tebow (deservedly so). Ga., Aub. and Bama lost quite a bit. Ole Miss will be very dangerous with Snead at QB (second in SEC behind Tebow, IMO). I think we COULD win the other 4 hard games beside Fla., but we won't. We could be beaten by any of them. So, lose to Fla. and one or two of the other 4, and we are both saying 10-2 or 9-3.

We have to replace the D line and middle LB. Secondary is back, but they sucked last year. Our hope is in your old D Coord., and new secondary and D-line coach. What do you think of Chavis, will we like him (well, will he coach a good D?)?

O-line should be good, receivers better than that. We have some good running backs. QB is still the big question. Jordan Jefferson looked good in the bowl game, and we assume he'll be the starter. We have 4 QB on scholly, 2 soph, and 2 true frosh. That is a poor position to be in. An injury and we would be in serious trouble.

How about the Vols? New coaching staff, hazzard a guess on your record? I hope you beat Bama but I'm not counting on it.

    Went to the scrimmage today.

As far as the defense goes, I think we're gonna be pleased this season. Those guys were having a blast out there and from what I hear, they like Chavis alot. Coleman, Brooks, Peterson, Riley, and Jones all looked pretty sharp. The line looked good too, but I'm not sure if it's because they didn't have to get around Big Herm anymore or not.. lol

At QB, Jordan Jefferson is definitely ahead of everyone. Lee and Garrett looked pretty good warming up, but not so hot in the scrimmage. Both of them had a few interceptions. Garrett lost 2 (in a row) to Ron Brooks, and Lee gave up a pick six to Coleman and maybe another int.

Russell Shepard looked pretty good I thought, though his throwing needs a little work, but he's got good decision making ability it seems. Dude can run like nobody's business too and looked quite confident doing it. He's going to be a blast to watch for the next few seasons.

Charles Scott looked good I thought. Keiland Williams didn't impress me but he didn't look bad. Still too much East-West running rather than North-South. Murphy looked ok as well.

I got a kick out of watching Patrick Lipoma too. He's just like another Trindon Holliday, but a little harder to bring down. He seems pretty tough too. It's going to be fun watching how they use him.

That's all I got.. Can't wait till the spring game.

If you read my posts don't really mind me. I'm like you, UT is one of my favorite non LSU teams in the SEC. I've always liked them growing up. I'm just an anti Kiffen guy. I'll be back on board once he's gone. I'm hoping that UT in football pulls off what UK did with their basketball coaching hire.

As far as how we'll do, I'm hoping for the best, but am currently wait and see mode... er ...make that I can't wait to see mode. I'm optimistic in the meantime.

It would be nice to get your viewpoints on what's happening up there; so I'm looking forward to reading your posts.

Chief is my all time favorite DC, you guys got a great DC when you picked him up. I wouldn't worry about the defense, this is his first year at LSU and it should get better each year.

All the local sports radio shows have been wanting CPF gone since about 2004 or 2005. I thought he was a pretty clean coach that would get us 9 wins a year most seasons. The old "You dont know what you got till its gone" or the "grass aint always greener on the other side" sayings stuck out in my mind.
Alot of people was fed up with everything that was going on,off field issues like arrests ect ect.
Radio was saying before the season even started that AD Mike Hamilton would put up with a bad year but when fans would leave the game early and rivals fans were sitting in season ticket holders seats cause they wasnt showing up and selling there tickets he would have to fire him and that was pretty much what happend. Losing money
Everyone is really excited about the new staff.
Florida with Spurrier and Bama has cracked on UT so much the eat it up that Kiffin came out swingin and took the first shot.

Bragging is one thing, but what set me off on Kiffen was the recruitment of Janzen Jackson. It really didn't bother me that he changed his mind about going to LSU and wanted to enroll at UT... even though he apparently did it late in the game (several weeks before NSD).

But the absolute deception and lying to LSU by his father was obviously orchestrated by Kiffen and Orgeron. For weeks, Jackson's dad was telling everyone who follows recruiting that he was all LSU not to worry. This pack of lies continued right up to and through NSD... and it was because Kiffen and Orgeron wanted more than Jackson's signature on a letter of intent, they wanted to screw LSU by making sure that we had absolutely no chance to replace him with someone else.

There's nothing wrong with going after someone else's recruits. LSU went hard after Trent Richardson and Alabama went hard after Ruben Randle. But both Saban and Miles did it with class. You'll never see either one of those two coaches do anything remotely close to the dung heap behavior exhibited by Kiffen and Orgeron.

All's not fair in recruiting and those two will pay professionally because all the other major college coaches and athletic directors know what is going on in Tennessee...including Tennessee's own athletic director.

    Wait and see.

I don't think Florida is going to be the automatic L that many people believe. Florida's D is good but not great, if we get performance out of the QBs we'll score points on them. And despite Tebow returning for his senior year they are not going to be able to replace the open space threat that Harvin was. I see defenses keying in on Tebow a lot more this season, and as much as Chavis likes to blitz, Tebow may be eating the Tiger Stadium grass quite a bit.
Lee will be ready to come in and perform if Jefferson goes down. That kid's a fighter, and he'll be a lot better in 2009. I don't think depth at QB is gonna be that much of a problem if Jefferson gets hurt. Youth at QB along with experience isn't necessarily a bad thing. It got Sam Bradford all the way to the BCSNCG after all.
