Relish the Shark being there tonight, because he won't be come this time tomorrow. No love for my pick Allenby? lol
honestly, i forgot robert was there. well done. i originally picked Graeme McDowell as my sleeper and went back and edited it...whoops. huge limb you went out on there regarding norman.
This course suits the Shark's style when he was in his hay-day. It really suits a lot of the older guys, because the older guys still hit those low cut shots whereas today's more modern players like to throw the ball a mile into the air and spin it around the green. So with the air brisk and the wind chopping 25-40 mph, the guys with good ball control can score and that is why guys like Norman and even a Tom Watson (+4) can score well. My big thing today was Duval at +3. I have no idea if he will make the cut, but what a story it would be if he contended.
I only got to watch a few minutes before I left for work this AM. The wind was blowing at a pretty good clip. Doesn't look like TNT is going to do a replay tonight. Will have to rely on highlights from the Golf Channel. I would say the odds are better for Norman to remain in contention than Duval. Last time I saw him he had definitely put on a lot of weight and he appeared to just be going through the motions.
this Rocco Mediate is a good Majors player. He is a lot like Jose Maria Olazabel (sp) in that he can never dominate the tour, because he can not make enough birdies, but he can contend in majors because he is a great "par" player.
Definitely. The Australian courses are extremely similar to British ones -- grass is a billion years old, hard as hell, and the weather is always changing. It is surprising more Australians don't contend in Majors regularly. Though they have a good chance with Norman, Scott, and Appleby all being near the top. Another in contention is Appleby, who I would love to see win over anyone else. .
that Phil Mickelson is No. 2 in the world shows how wide the gap between No. 1 and No. 2 is because Tiger never ever bows out without a fight like Phil regularly does 2-3 majors a year.
Well he didn't play in the Masters as he wasn't eligible. Don't remember him being in serious contention in any majors in recent years. His putting has always held him back. He's switched back and forth between regular length and the long putter for years.
