Look, Herbie isn't perfect. He has made numerous comments bashing his own alma mater for cryin out loud. Like comparing us to a MAC TEAM for #$%#@$%@#%#$%@#$%@$%^ sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's made the mistake that NONE OF US HAVE EVER DONE, doing what his boss tells him to do. I've heard so many times about the CLM to scUM story, you'd think he was the one trying to work out the contract. Fact of the matter is, that he's probably the most well informed of a group of hacks, that we ALL WATCH, and give license to by watching, so what do you expect? We encourage this kind of controversy stirring by visiting ESPN.com 5 times a day to read the story. Don't blame Herbie for doing his job, and reporting what he's told to report. I realize that no one will give a crap about this fact, and will continue to hate him for that story. goes with the territory, and you're certainly entitled. just remember the next time your boss asks you to do something that you may or may not agree with or aren't sure about that he was in that situation, probably with a lot more on the table. ESPN wanted to be the first one to break the story, and management took the chance, and left Herbie hanging out to dry, in my opinion. As for this year's awards, I thought he was pretty fair and straightforward, and there are always discussions about these lists. Everyone has their preferences and opinions, and that's all they are, opinions. All due respect to everyone who has been so gracious here, and there are several people that I don't include in this statement, but... Why do SEC HOMERS always think there aren't any good players outside the SEC? I've had a few beers tonight, but i must admit, i'm a little disgusted by it, and makes me hope for the almighty to send a little humility your way so you can see how it tastes. again, apologies to anyone undeserving, but those who do deserve it know who you are! opinions are like @ssholes, everyone's got one, and they all stink but yours you don't have to agree, but if you can't respect other people's opinions, well, see the above sentence.
Of course. It was probably true at the time. He always is. Most listen to him on Sports Center, which is obviously scripted. He is unbiased but for whatever reason people get upset and link his stories...
herbie's a good dude who made a mistake. There was likely a lot of truth to his story at one point but his timing was horrible as was the dependability of his source. I still think he's one of the more knowledgeable of the motley crue and like his analysis as a whole. the fact he did a 180 and sucks up to the SEC makes it all worth the faux pas. I also agree that the big 10 is a few levels behind the mac as he does.
we found out last fall. 31 unanswered points vs OSU in the Dome only 27 unansweres points vs TULANE in the dome :hihi: sorry Buckeye, I couldn't resist that one:thumb:
How many other teams would've lost those games, I wonder? I have no excuse for 2006, but last year was a rebuilding year (which I was saying in the lead up to the NC last year, if you recall). This is a new season, and if they can get over the mental BS, they'll be fine. Remember, the rest of the B10 is has faired pretty well against the SEC, scUM is 7-3 against the SEC since 1970. 2007 - Michigan 41 - Florida 35 2003 - Michigan 38 - Florida 30 2001 - Tennessee 45 - Michigan 17 2000 - Michigan 31 - Auburn 28 1999 - Michigan 35 - Alabama 34 1998 - Michigan 45 - Arkansas 31 1996 - Alabama 17 - Michigan 14 1990 - Michigan 35 - Mississippi 3 1987 - Michigan 28 - Alabama 24 1983 - Auburn 9 - Michigan 7 Wisconsin has also fared pretty well of late. All teams have a mental issue that they have a hard time getting over, unless you're Charlie Weis, in which case it's the lack of buffets in South Bend that he can't get over. (That ND flamer has induced what will be a season of Weis bashing :grin We'll be fine. assuming we can get over the mental roadblock.
I'll be rooting for the Bucks right up to the next time they play an SEC team. Simply because I find them to be the LEAST pretentious fan base of all the typical elite teams.
