Saban was too. One of his favorites of mine was, "The polls are about what HAS ALREADY happened", in relating to why they had nothing to do with where we'd end up if we got caught up with them. As far as Holtz, you're correct but I have to admit that I'm starting to find him humorous. He laughs at himself so the fact that I know he recognizes he's being a homer doesn't upest me- that's even if he's given a choice, he may be given a script. I find his pep talks, though they are the kiss of death, often relate well to any given game.
I like the guy as he is like a drunk funny grandfather. With that being said I would rather take advice about football from Todd on Wedding Crashers.
Like this one:  Never let this guy on our side again! :nope:
This poll is sure to change after everyone finds out what juniors will leave early for the draft. I would totally agree with the Buckeyes being on top of the poll IF I knew that all the juniors were going to return. But I don't see that happening. I think the last article I read, they have 13 players being evaluated for the draft.
That kinda "swamiism" is such a crok...thats like predicting whether or not its gonna rain june 10th at 9AM in LaPlace in the year 2015! I never pay any attention to them. :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
Jamarcus Russel, Dwayne Bowe, Craig Davis, Laron Landry... #2 preseason... just pointing out a possible flaw in your logic...
In order to be number one pre-season, you almost certainly have to return your starting QB from the prior season. I think Oklahoma enters 2008 at the top. With USC at 2 then Florida then Georgia then the eventual back-to-back champ, Louisiana State University. They won't be able to put OSU ahead of LSU after January 7th. "Umm, I gotta put LSU ahead of the Buckeyes, the final score was 104 to 0"
I thought about that but they knew our whole defense was basically back, and I think that was the deciding factor. Whether fair or not, Matt Flynn had some hype so Russell's loss wasnt that big in the voter's eyes. Also Steltz and Doucet were common names. Now this year they wont recognize the names of the guys coming back, plus we lose our defense.
