almost. i went to the game, it was all pretty nice until extras. back to back to back jacks right after a manager ejection. the mets just dont have enough pop in their bats missing their corner outfielders. the game sucked, but i was cheered up by something i overheard at the subway station after the game: "nigga, it is money over bitches, money over blood, it is all about makin that paper" - random gentleman talkin to his pal on the subway platform. with that life lesson, i feel like the night wasnt a total loss.
they are losing close games, extra inning games. i have to think that the 7-8 at-bats not made by alou and green and chavez, and instead made by rookies or retreads or backups is costing that small amount of offense that would change an extra inning loss into a win. green will be back soon, and that will be a big help. unfortunately i think alou is gonna be a while. he is turning out to be an exact replacement for cliff floyd. dangerous hitter, but never plays. and it isnt like braves are picking up any ground, whew!
great article about throwin heat: http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/zoooomaya-and-speed-guns/ Player Avg Fastball Joel Zumaya 98.56 Billy Wagner 96.47 Bobby Jenks 96.29 Kyle Farnsworth 96.2 Ambriorix Burgos 96.04 Brad Lidge 95.78 Francisco Cordero 95.75 Daniel Cabrera 95.74 Derrick Turnbow 95.68 Mark Lowe 95.61 burgos throws fire but he cant even stay in the bigs. those are 2006 numbers. i am 5 foot 9 and i have big muscled up legs like billy wagner, maybe i can throw 100. i saw in the playoffs last year they has verlander and zumaya regularly going over 100. i think the gun was juiced. true or not: the two strongest arms of all time in their sports are joel zumaya and jamarcus?
The Zephyrs Brian Lawrence (Northwestern St.) got the win last night against Round Rock. Round Rock starter Jared Gothreaux took the loss. Round Rock started an all-McNeese State battery, Gothreaux and catcher Danny Ardoin. Sandy Alomar, Jr. was 2 for 4 for the Zephs. He'll be 41 next Monday. Fernando Tatis appeared as a PH for N.O. Interesting to see who passes through here in AAA, including these old guys.
this mets team that is supposed to be all-world, and a shoe-in to win the NL, and is hands down the best team in the NL is red-hot, riding a streak of losing 9 of 10. Granted, my braves aren't much better, but I also wasn't enough of a tool to start an official atlanta braves thread. better start winning or your dreaded yankees will take over NY again, which is, of course, the way it should be.
