If you don't think that I know they are both in the AL East, then i'm sorry for letting you down. I was just dissing Martin's silly assertion that the Mets were such a shoe-in. Even though the braves are done.
i dont really consider the bronx to be part of new york. it is part of the dominican republic. tonight on sunday night baseball, joe morgan is truly at his worst. he is calling shea hillenbrand "shawn hillenbrand" oh sweet john maine just beaned jeff kent. let have a brawl. also joe morgan called met third base coach sandy alomoar sr "roberto alomar"
lets take a moment to relive a nice moment from the playoffs last year:
this has been the worst week in a few years for the metropolitans. they have been swept in a 4 game series by philly, which was made even worse by thae crazy double play intereference call last night at the game i went to. i was like those stupid fans at the bluegrass miracle, celebrating too early, taunting the philly crowd because i thought the game had been tied. instead the ump called an interference double play and ended the game as i cheered. "enjoy the long ride home dumbass met fan" - philly fans to me "i will console myself by reading the standings" - me, wishing i had something better.
so - just so we are on the same page, you do know that was the correct call on the interference? that was so obvious what he was doing, sliding well past 2nd base, you had to call him out. for the record, I think the Mets choke and miss the playoffs........and I hope the Yankees fall short as well.
i never saw the play. i was watching first base during the game, and i never caught a replay. but my understanding is that you can take out the 2b as long as you are not so far out of the basepath that you cannot reach the bag. it is no big deal though, the mets are still in first, and wil not threatened by the other teams in the east. philly has no pitching. plus pedro is back monday. also i continue to blame that stupid philly park for randomizing the game and rewarding high long popups that should be outs and making them home runs. at least colorado has an excuse, and they are trying to do something. philly is not real baseball, just a homerun derby.
the mets have now consecutively steamrolled the board's favorite teams, the braves and stros. man, the stros, what a terrible franchise that is. and what a poor showing they put together this weekend.
ok. i have decided to become a fan of the stros. i am jumping on the bandwagon. they are terrible. i think i will quit being a fan. i am seeing the metroids tonight. to be honest i do not look forward to sitting through the excruciating sept 11th boredom festival that is sure to happen at the game. not that i don't care about tributes and whatnot, but that stuff gets tiresome after 6 years. lets move on. speaking of memories, i cant remember the last time the mets lost. i think they have won 9 out of their last 10. national league domination. unless you are me or nutriaitch or cajunsensation (it is a little know fact that he is a met fan), you can pack it in and start thinking 2008. this means you too sabanfan, because the yanks are not going anywhere in the AL playoffs.
