The Spurs are leading Golden State by eight late in the second quarter. We need the Warriors to win this one.
To widen the gap between the Hornets and the Spurs, yes. Hornets are still #1 in the west with one less loss than San Antonio. As long as they keep winning, the Hornets stay in the lead. We just have to hope they can take out the Lakers and the Jazz. The other games on the rest of the schedule are very winnable games: Miami, New York, Golden State, Minnesota, Sacramento, Clippers, and Dallas.
Hornets need to average 17,540 to get to that magical 14,735 mark. They play the Knicks next at home. Might be a challenge with a D league team coming to town. If they do 18,300 for the Lakers and Jazz games, then they only need roughly 16,000 for the Knicks game to average the 17,540. That would leave just the Clippers game. Should be a great finish to this race.
I've got four tickets to the Hornets-Knicks game, so they'll only need to sell 15,996 more. :hihi: It's a Friday night game. We should have a good crowd. (Even better if they're coming off a 5-1 road trip...hoping they defeat Miami tonight)
106-77 over the D-league Heat. Great road trip. They are setting themselves up to get the #1 seed in the West. Not a difficult remaining schedule. Could easily go 7-1 in their last 8.
New York (20-55), Minnesota (19-55), Sacramento (34-40), and the LA Clippers (23-52) may not be tough but the other four may be. Golden State is currently #9 in the West (45-30) and will need to win most of their games to make the playoffs so every game will be important to them. Utah is #4 (50-26) and can give us a lot of problems. Fortunately this one is in N.O. because the Jazz (still hate saying that) are great at home. We have to travel to L.A. to play the current #3 (51-24) Lakers who are also trying to win the West. We finish on the road at Dallas (47-28) who is currently #7 but got Nowitzki back.
I figure a split betweent the Lakers and Mavs games. Win the rest, easily. Utah sucks balls on the road. The reason why they won't make it out of the 2nd round.
If the Hornets keep playing like they have all season, they have a great shot at the #1 seed. What scares me is they play eight games in 13 days including three back to back nights. That's tough to do especially considering four of the last five are on the road. This has been an amazing year for the West and one that will probably be talked about for awhile. It would be nice to finish on top this year but even better to make some noise in the playoffs. Speaking of the playoffs, the Hornets can clinch a spot tomorrow night at home. That should be reason enough to pack the arena.
