We are quite fine on the D-Line. Woods and Dorsey will start next year, and Pittman and either RJF or Jones will start at the other end. I hear Lazarius Livingston will be moved inside, and we have a few other commitments at the DE position as well as other DT players.

Is LSU recruiting any QBs? It seems like someone would be interested since Cate's going with OSU.

I think that if we wanted a QB in this class, we would have made a better effort to get Cate. We will most likely wait until next season, or perhaps even the next if all of our guys stay.

    Not sure.
We have Sophomore Matt Flynn, Sophomore JaMarcus Russell and Redshirt Freshmen Ryan Perrilloux.
Ideally we would have an upperclassmen starting at QB while the others learn the system. We are not in that position. Next year we will have two Jr's and a Freshmen. The Tiger football world will be just fine without a QB recruit in this class. With that said, if we don't land a QB this year, I think it should be a high priority for the next recruiting class.
My math does not look right, but if we skip this year and land a quality QB next, he would be a Red Shirt Freshman when Ryan is a Sophomore - and be in his Frosh season when Ryan is a Junior - Matt and JaMarcus are gone.
That is why I think it is essential if we do not land a quality QB this year, next year it is essential.

When that commit became elgible to play at LSU from signing him the next class, Ryan would be a redshirt sophmore with both Flynn & Russell possibly still here - a redshirt junior before the commit was eligible (assuming he redshirts) with Flynn & Russell both gone & RP definitely the starter. If Ryan were to leave after his redshirt junior year, that would give LSU a redshirt freshman as our starting QB in 08.

    Is that math right?

The more I see that, the more I would have liked to have Cate in this class.

Better to have a RFr that the staff feels comfortable with than a RSo with abilities the staff isn't sold on. The staff obviously saw better prospects next year to back off Cate without a 4th QB on the roster.
