    In the 2006 season:
Florida beat Vandy 25-19 (by 6 pts), and Florida won the National Title AND beat LSU 23-10 (by 13 pts). LSU finished #3. Arkansas, who finished #15, beat Vandy 21-19 (by 3 pts). Funny thing is that Big Ten Michigan beat Vandy 27-7 (by 20 pts), and #2 Michigan lost to #1 Ohio State 39-42 (by 3 pts) and then #1 Ohio State lost to #2 Florida 14-41 in the Title Game.

    In the 2007 season:
Georgia beat Vandy 20-17 (by 3 pts), and Georgia finished the season #2 (behind #1 LSU and ahead of #3 USC). Tennessee beat Vandy 25-24 (by 1 point) and Tennessee won the SEC East and finished #12. Vandy lost to Kentucky 20-27 (7 pts), not so much different from National Champion LSU's 37-43 (6 pts) loss to Kentucky.

In the 2008 season (last season):
Vandy beat Ole Miss 23-17 (by 6 pts), and Ole Miss finished #14. Vandy lost to Georgia 14-24 (by 10 pts), and Georgia finished #13.

As for Washington... they gave USC everything they could handle two out of the last three seasons... 27-24 (3 pts) in 2007, 26-20 (6 pts) in 2006. USC finished #3 in 2007 and #4 in 2006. LSU beat Washington 31-23 (8 pts).

And another thing to consider: the University of Washington, not surprisingly, has better talent than Vanderbilt University:

Average star ranking of recruiting classes per Rivals.com

    Vanderbilt
    2005 -- 2.08
    2006 -- 2.27
    2007 -- 2.50
    2008 -- 2.19
    2009 -- 2.72

    Washington
    2005 -- 2.54
    2006 -- 2.82
    2007 -- 2.81
    2008 -- 2.92
    2009 -- 2.89

    :LSU231: LSU is awesome. :LSU231:

What does all that mean for this season?

    Absolutely nothing.

Not necessarily valid comparisons as Vandy has a QB with his second start.

Nonetheless, Vandy is a good and well coached team.

Thought we played better last night despite the rain but still need work on the defense. Our offensive line needs to step it up also. JJ was forced out of the pocket too much IMHO. I was impressed by Russell and his speed. Give it time, Give it time!!!!!!! GEAUX TIGERS!

Tennessee beat Vandy by 29 in 2006, we may have crowned the wrong team.

No, Culter's last season at Vandy was the 2005 season.
