Guys...Give them time...The Coordinators will give the naysayers an idea...Recruiting results will sway them...and on the field production will ultimately be the only answer to their questions and poor-mouthing...

Let them stand up and be counted...Let them all let it be known who is against this hire...

Matter of fact, I'm about to start a thread about it...

Agree with all your points TE, but didn't Tepper try to force-feed a 3-4 base D? Part of his 5-year install plan or some craziness.

I'm still constantly shocked by people bringing up a "4-2-5" d as a reason that Miles must suck. I'm not sure what % of the time we were in nickel this past season, but if #8 is out there, that's what we're in (or dime I suppose), and he was out there a lot this year.

Not sure what happened with OSU's D this past year, but I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with the fact that they used nickel a lot.

I apologize...You're right...He was a 3-4 guy...but he still thought he could get away without running a nickel based secondary package...I remember informal after practice and press conferences in the pre-season before the '99 season where he acted incredulous when the media questioned his comments about not needing to run a base nickel package...

I dont think he was offered the Bama job once nevermind twice. Ive been stuck in Alabama for the last 7 years...Mobile, Montgomery and now Birmingham and I never remember hearing he was offered the job. I think he was interviewed but thats about it.

While waiting to hear the broadcast of Miles' PC, "the show" commented on that theory (Miles running too much 4-2-5 and it failing) is total BS and doesn't pertain to us because the host (didn't catch his name) pointed out that WE played in a 4-2-5 a good majority of the time this season.

Miles' defense might work here where it didn't work at OSU because we have the players to make it work. We're loaded with good DB's and stocked with very quick LB's and definately have enought "meat" on the D-line to make it work.

    a chance?

Thank you for some sanity on this board. Since when do we need to give somebody(coach) a chance.

LSU was in the position that they could pick and choose from among all coaches who are interested in stepping up to a premier program. Well, not anymore. I think Skip needs to go. Not only his ridiculous statements about anything, but Pat Henry gone, Nick Saban gone, Brady still here, why are legends leaving LSU if things are so great? and yes Pokie fell into his lap, he did not find her!

I am still and always will be a fan, and I will support Coach Miles, I just think this whole process was not thought through, rushed, and it is time for Skip to go.

    Recruiting

Alright guys, this is definately getting out of hand here. I believe that Coach Miles is going to be a great hire for LSU and I will tell you why. :geaux:

He will definately be able to recruit well here at home but can also recruit an area of the country that we have not always spent alot of time in, namely the eastern mid-west of Chicago IL, Detroit MI, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. He did spend alot of time in MI as a player and coach and should have some solid ties and relationships in the midwest, not to mention his time in Dallas as a position coach.

We already know he can recruit in Texas and OK from his time at OSU. He had to compete for recruits with Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M and still managed to put together winning seasons and go to bowl games (to me that might be a minor miracle).

My main concern is what he does with the defensive coordinator position. Our defense has been solid and I hope that he just leaves it alone. By the way, we run a 4-2-5 defense alot of the time so whomever thinks that is a bad idea must not be paying too much attention.

Anyway, welcome Coach Miles! We all need to get on board and support this guy and we should be just fine.

    Geaux Tigers!
