All I can see are a couple of guys--Miles & Pelini--emerging from the peasoup fog of the abominable Big 12. I can only pray that Skip is a great judge of coaching talent, and also Miles...

Secretly troubles me somewhat that Pelini's Oklahouma defense was shreaded by USC (the score could have been much worse). Mile's Oklahouma state scored a lot on him too, and A&M,...but he was co-DC, which ain't worth a crap, so who knows.

Hoping and praying for the best,

I hope everybody realizes that pelini didn't call the plays at OU, Vernables did. Pelini was really third in charge behind Stoops and vernables. And everybody needs to remember that they were playing a freshman corner and the rest of their secondary had little playing time before this year.

Yep, I don't think this is stressed enough. If you read OU boards you'd think Pelini was hired and came in and replaced the entire D scheme and was responsible for game planning and play calling. From what I can tell, all he did was coach the DBs and try to re-work their DB philosophy into an NFL type system - which the players struggled with (along with having huge losses and key injuries).

The NU players all say how easy it was to learn his system, and how when they got on the field they didn't have to worry about a huge complex system - they all knew where they were supposed to be, and that enabled them to play hard every single snap.

This is valuable insight into Pelini's system if you ask me. There is a very strong chance our guys will pick up his system in a short time frame and next year perform with far less 'blunders'. I actually like the idea of a defense that doesn't rely on complexity to baffle the offense, but instead relies on hard playing and consistent effort. Even when a scheme is average, playing hard on every play can make a defense successful.

Del Rio was never, and I mean never interested in the LSU job. Nobody leaves a NFL head coaching job in which he has done well to come to college

    I absolutely abhor thread digging.

Maybe Tirk can embarrass you with a senseless post from years back.

Back in 05, I would have been elated had we gotten Weis.

no one is out to embarrass anyone...except those who claim to have known then that the staff was doomed to fail in 08.....

somehow i think tirk will understand that it is meant in fun....but then again he probably doesn't have the same insecurities you do.

....so you thought it was senseless too?....

bonus points for abhor although detest would have fit as well.
