Okay, after looking at the schedule again, I'm thinking 3 losses. Florida, Tennessee & Alabama. I hope I'm wrong and depending on what happens in the first 2 games I could be way off base. This team and coaches may come out and prove my fears wrong and I hope they do.

if you think we will lose 3 or 4 games doesnt mean you are less of a fan, its a simple prediction. I predicted 3-4 last year and a few thought I was nuts. Well, I was right or really close. Forgot which I guessed.

I say we lose 2 regular season games if Brodie Croyle is healthy.

no i dont hear what the idiots say. Just if i had to pick a loss and given how close our game was with them for 3 qtrs this year without croyle, who i highly respect as a college qb, then bama comes to mind...not Auburn or State or Ole Myth.

    by deduction only.

I completely agree. I've noticed a few of the tiger faithful somehow deducing that bama will pull it out in '05. I just don't see it happening.

I'm also a little puzzled over the infatuation many are having with Bama, and more specifically, with Croyle. I know he was banged up when we got to him in '03, but his offense didn't make it past mid-field until the 3rd quarter.

Depth is still going to be a big problem for them in '05. And while they are gaining players yearly, if their upperclassmen go down, then inexperienced guys will have to pick up the slack. I'm not worried much about them.

From a Nebraska fan that really likes Pelini, he said that he liked to run Cover 2 at Nebraska and was fairly aggressive in blitzing, but like to blitz the LB's around the ends.

Pelini is the main one that concerns me. After seeing OU's secondary last season consistenly leak like a bad faucet, it concerns me. But then Neb had a good defense while he was DC but they were playing in the Big12 North, very weak. To survive in the SEC he will have to branch out more and come up with some complex blitzing and trust our DB in man to man.

So I will go on the record as being concerned about Pelini and the Defense.

I think the offense will be fine with Miles having some control on that. Jimbo will learn from Miles and the play calling will be better on the offense.

Considering the timing of our coaching change, I think this is a pretty solid coaching staff.

It'll be interesting to see how going from a defensive minded coach to an offensive minded coach affects this team. The defense will have to learn an entirely new scheme, which could cause some problems early in the season.

Offensively, I'm hoping the scheme, terminology, etc, doesn't change all that much. Asking our current QBs to learn a new system in 6 months scares the hell out of me.

IMO, Fisher is a solid OC. Look at his offensive numbers in 2000, 2001 and 2003 and you'll see some amazing success ... you'll also see a solid QB leading us those years. It was painfully obvious that our offense was limited last year (and in 2002 after Mauck's injury) because of our QB play.

All in all, I expect we'll see more high scoring games. It really doesn't bother me if we win 35-20 type games versus 17-10 type games under Saban. Just win baby!

The real key to this coaching staff's success will be how well they recruit ... we'll have a much better handle on this next year at this time.

It's hard to imagine that there will ever come a day that LSU can overlook Alabama in any sport. Alabama is one of the SEC schools that I have a genuine respect for and I appreciate their athletic programs and their following. It was typical Alabama to fire up a heck of a basketball program while the football program is on "vacation." However, I don't see them being far enough along to compete with an improved LSU team in the Fall. Hats off to Croyle and the gutsy play, but the kid has been running for his life since the day he got to Tuscaloosa - I heard he runs to class to practice scrambling.

I think Alabama has a puncher's chance if LSU has a serious offensive meltdown in the weeks leading up to the game, or if LSU goes into Tuscaloosa undefeated...

College teams do NOT have to wait to name an NFL coach as head coach. Weis was named at ND LONG before his season ended.
