Ciron Black is a big offensive lineman who plays Left tackle at Lee HS (Tyler, TX), a 5A school whose former quarterback is none other than Matt Flynn. He could be either a tackle or move to the interior and play guard at the next level. He is listed at 6'5", 315 lbs., with a 5.3 forty. Black bench presses 350, squats 450 and cleans 265. On the field Ciron is a tremendous run blocker and pass blocker. While run blocking he gets a great jump off the line and knocks his defender in the mouth many times before the defender has a chance to react. Once he knocks down one guy he immediately looks for someone else to take out. While pass blocking he simply overpowers defenders. He is sound and good with his feet although he has said that he is working on his quickness. He suffered a knee injury during his junior season and some colleges have been a little apprehensive about offering him without seeing him his senior year. Even with the injury Ciron was named 2nd Team All-State, first teams All East Texas and District. Ciron's coach Mike Owens feels that he is good enough to end up in the NFL one day. Ciron has said that "I've kind of fallen in love with Tiger football, their fans, and the tradition." Ciron seems to have the talent and attitude that will make him a great player for the Tigers both on and off the field.
