It may seem that way but the real reason is that we actually have a dominant power running game this year. Last year we had nothing in the 1st half of the season. And that's why we lost those two games.
A lot of great points made both ways....Id have to go with the 2003 Tigers. That defense was fun to watch!
Since Saban's coaching the 2003 team, it's with no time left when the receiver gets behind the safety. :hihi:
I won't discredit you, but i believe you made SOME mistakes. QB- push RB- 2007 way better Vincent, Broussard, Addai (early in careers) vs. Hester, K. Williams, C. Scott, R. Murphy, T. Holliday WR- you forgot our bread and butter of '03! Michael Clayton, Devery Henderson, Skyler Green, Bennie Brazzell vs. Doucet, Byrd, Lafell, Tolliver TE- Push (Eric Edwards vs. Richard Dickson?) Edwards briefly went pro, Dixon will eventually be better OL- agreed '03 better Peterman, Livings, Whitworth all went pro Ben Wilkerson=Rimington Trophy Winner vs. Herman Johnson, Ciron Black, but Carnell "False Start, Blown Assignment, Stupid Penalty, etc.." Stewart, Brett Helms, Lyle Hitt....:nope: DL- '03 way better Marquise Hill, Marcus Spears, Chad Lavalais, Kyle Williams/Melvin Oliver....I'd go out on a limb and say one of the best DL rotations in LSU history vs. Dorsey, PF Jackson, Pittman, Favorite LB- agreed '07 better Lionel Turner vs. Ali Highsmith....wow DB- '03 in a CLOSE battle Corey Webster, Travis Daniels, Jack Hunt (My favorite LSU player of all time), Randall Gay, Daniel Francis, Ronnie Prude, Laron Landry vs. Chevis Jackson, Jonathon Zenon, Craig Steltz, Curtis Taylor, Danny Mccray Special Teams- 03 better in the largest margin yet Coaches- haha i agree with you there I do agree overall that '03 was better. Although this '07 team is very special! Either way...:crystal:
I'd give a sligt edge to Mauck. He was a little more consistent. Forget about JV's areer after that year. In '03, he was amazing! But for depth, '07 gets the nod. '03 in a landslide here. Dixon may be better one day, that remains to be seen. The '03 team used the tight end more than '07 does, so I'd have to go with '03 Yeah, '03 wins it. I think this one is pretty close. '07 and not real close '03 again. '03 easy I'll take the current staff over '03. Miles has had more success with ______ recruits than _______ did. Crowton over Jimbo Pellini over Muschamp (mainly because I don't think Muschamp was the mastermind of that D) '03 appears to be the better team than this years. But that '03 tea wasn't as good playing from behind (remember the UF game). I think '07 would actuall step up and take this one. Who would have homefield advantage?
I dont see how anyone could pick '07 over '03? THe DL in '03 is much more consistent than this year, outside of Dorsey everyone has been a bit overrated. The '03 DL, plus the blitz packages with Landry would have the '07 OL in a bigger mess than any line they have or will face this year got them in. The false starts would be insane. Flynn would get too flustered. The '03 D was hell to run on and the secondary was better. Jackson and Zenon are a great pair but Webster and Daniels were lights out. With Greens ability to return(he was amazing in '03, no one wanted to punt to him) would be a huge advantage over the special teams of this year. The '07 team would control field position and win 24-17.
It's so hard to compare Mauck and Flynn because Flynn has shown more ability to comeback. Mauck I don't recall had to come back much but I will always remember his throw to Skyler Green on the fly off a broken route. People are down on Mauck but he threw for 28 touchdowns...which is kind of an LSU record. The 03 team just took care of business in most of its games while this year has hurt itself with penalites and turnovers but overcame them.
2003 defense is better than 2007 defense. 2007 offense is better than 2003 offense. I'll say it is a tie, but Skyler Green makes the difference with either a punt return or a kick return.
