The thing that shocks me most about that survey is that Landry Jones was in the top 4. I'd take Lee every day of the week over him. How can you vote for a guy that has 5TD 4INT and only signature win was against a FSU team that lost it starting QB and they still had to come from behind?
Tajh Boyd puts up 35 points on the vaunted fsu defense and is way down at 15 in the list. His stats dominate that of Landry Jones. Jones was mediocre against that same fsu defense the week before. The media perpetuates bull**** until you have no other recourse but to believe it.
It's still weird to hear Lee and Heisman in the same sentence, but good for him. Deserves all the praise he's getting this year. I think Wing should be on that list too.
What shocks me the most is Mathieu is only 14. Are they serious? His play has been nothing short of incredible. I do not remember Charles Woodson having this much success in his Heisman year, this early. Maybe I am wrong! But 14th are you kidding me.
Woodson played just enough on offense, scored at least once during a relevant game, and was on a team that shared a national title. Plus he was a beast on defense. Otherwise, Manning should have won it that year.
I have him at #4 in my list: 1. Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor (ONLY 3 games played) 70-82, 962 yds, 11.7 ypa, 13 TDs 0 Int, 24 carries, 167 yds, 7.0 avg, 1 TD 2. Tajh Boyd, QB, Clemson 90-136, 1255 yds, 9.2 ypa, 13 TDs 1 Int, 2 Rushing TDs 3. Russell Wilson, QB, Wisconsin 69-91, 1136 yds, 12.5 ypa, 11 TDs 1 Int, 16 carries, 108 yds, 6.8 avg, 1 TD 4. Tyrann Mathieu, CB, LSU 1 Int, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 returned TD, 30 tackles, 21 solo, 1/2 sacks, 4 passes broken up, 5 passes defended, deflated 2 teams' hopes of winning 5. Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina 107 carries, 611 yds, 571 avg, 8 TDs 6. Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State 83-105, 995 yds, 9.9 ypa, 12 TDs 2 Ints 7. Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford 57-85, 786 yds, 9.2 yps, 8 TDs 1 Int 8. Sammy Wadkins, WR, Clemson 28 receptions, 433 yds, 15.4 avg, 6 TDs 9. LaMichael James, RB, Oregon 65 carries, 613 yds, 9.4 avg, 7 TDs 10. Denard Robinson, QB, Michigan 35-72, 624 yds, 8.7 ypa, 6 TDs 6 Ints, 71 carries, 552 yds, 7.8 avg
Maybe. But then again, He still has less TD's than Lee and more INT's. I honestly don't give a **** how Lee throws as long as he keeps playing like he has been. Exactly. +1
But as I've stated many times, the primary thing that seperates TM7 and Woodson was that Woodson played a decent bit on offense. For some strange reason, Heisman voters tend to believe that the nations most outstanding college football player NEEDS to come from the offensive side of things...or at least play there and make an impact. :dis: It's for that very reason why I believe the Honey Badger comes in at 14th. Odds are he'll go a few games without a turnover or a TD and he almost certainly won't play on offense. Lee, on the other hand, by the simple nature of his position and the team's stature as being in the top 3 in the nation, he's got more of a shot to throw 3-4 TD passes in any game. Not the same thing for a DB. It sucks...but that's the nature of the Heisman beast.
