The loss tells you a lot about the team though. Losing to #1 is not the same as losing to Iowa State.

Oklahoma State has 3 wins of 12 points or less. Bama has blown everyone out except the #1 team in the country. I believe the schedules are comparable between the two.

The schedules are far from comparable.

    likewise

however if you so choose you can take a look at their actual SOS ratings.

correct if they were both undefeated.

but theres this small caveat that one lost to the best team in the country in overtime by a field goal.

while the other lost to an unranked Iowa st team as a 30 pt favorite.

Bama proved they can beat us by pushing us to OT.

Okie St proved they are not ready for prime time.

do you penalize Bama for being in the same division as LSU?

    sure why not.

im all for ruining their hopes and dreams.

id much rather play okie state but its not because i think they are more deserving.

Oklahoma State has played 2 opponents currently ranked in the AP poll.

Bama has played 3 opponents currently ranked in the AP poll.

SOS doesn't take into account who you lost to. It's a completely objective number.

Oklahoma State may pass the computer test, but it sure doesn't pass the eye test. That's why they're ranked #4/5

Okie St should have won that game, no question. Were they distracted by the deaths of their basketball coaches? I kinda have a hard time buying that, but who knows how it affected them. They had an off game and lost in 2OTs, not exactly a blowout.

But it is a fact that they have had a more difficult schedule overall.

Nobody is talking AP poll here, it doesn't factor into the BCS. Look at the BCS rankings: Okie St has defeated 4 top 25 BCS teams (probably 5 after this Sat), Bama.....2.

I put it in because I don't believe Missouri (7-5) is the 25th best team in the country, as they are ranked in the BCS.

The BCS favors Okie State. The AP poll favors Bama. Hence, the schedules are negligible.

Let's put it this way...do you think Bama loses @ ISU? Do you think Okie State loses against LSU?

    The losses MATTER.

Bama's top wins are Arky and Penn State
Okie State's top wins are Baylor and KState

    Like I said, comparable.

    they were 30 pt favorites.

i think LSU, with 10 current redshirts (and brad wing) could beat Iowa st. while playing both ways.

Okie state was not only outgained but gave up 200 yards rushing and almost 400 yards passing to Iowa freaking St.

How bad do you really think we would stomp Okie St? It would be brutal. It would be very similar to R-Kansas who is a big 12 wannabe.

and just for context, Bama outgained us.

i have no problem screwing bama. in fact it gives me great joy. but if theres an opponent better than bama, you are saying they would likely beat us. b/c bama gave us all we wanted.

    very
