What if Hawaii easily takes care of Georgia and finishes undefeated. Could they end this wacky season by ending up #1 in the AP Poll?
I don't think so. In 2003, USCw was #1 in the AP poll when the final BCS standings were released. All they had to do was beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl, which they did. Since the BCS #1 and #2 match the AP #1 and #2, I don't see much of a chance for a "split" title (I personally don't believe in the split title at all).
That word does not exist this season!! This a scenario that I truly do not want to happen, but it has got to make you wonder how it may be viewed by the voters if they happen to beat Georgia into the ground.
I agree with you concerning upsets and such, but no way they get voted #1 in the AP if they win. Heck, they aren't getting much respect by being #10 in the AP right now. Which is well deserved IMO. I would bet the house in my Never statement.
1: There will be a clear national champ this year! 2: Hawaii will "NOT" beat Ga...they actually have to play a "real" football team! The Bulldogs may take this one BIG! :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
You are right, SC had a claim to the titled based on where they were ranked before the Rose Bowl. We shouldn't have that problem this year. I don't mind the split title. When you have 119 teams you are bound to have some seasons where a split happens. Before the BCS we couldn't get #1 and #2 on the field for a bowl game, so you had more split titles. Auburn should have been given a split title a few years ago. To go undefeated through the SEC and win a major bowl game should be enough, if it was us in that position I would have been pissed off. These NC's don't come around all that often.
